Topic: The Who To Perform Live 8 Return to archive Page: 1 2
July 1st, 2005 09:10 AM
Honky Tonk Man The Sun newspapers bizarre column has done a run down of all 26 acts to perform at the Hyde Park gig and it has listed the songs they'll perform.

The Who will be the 24th act to appear and the two songs they will be performing are...

Won’t Get Fooled Again
Baba O' Riley

Oh, and for those interested. Zak Starkey WILL NOT be in attendance. He's performing with the wonderful Oasis in Manchester.

No Drummer Corgi .

Jon Carin is playing keyboards

" Serenity, the buzzword of rehab and twelve- step workshops. Serenity is higher than sanguinity, contentment higher than courage, humour higher than veracity and dignity higher than power. I hope that Live8 will be a smash, but I also hope it will be serene and dignified, and that we can really help our friends in Africa - who Bob G says have more than enough humour already in the face of horrifying adversity - to find some moments of contentment. What about twice as much as they have at the moment? "

sirmoonie I play the same old song, with a few new lines, but everybody wants to hear it....

Deep in the back of my mind is an unrealized sound....

Munky! Rhymes with skunky!

" You need a new song
I'll set the words up so they tear right at your soul
Don't take me too long
But there's a danger that I'll plagiarize something old

My fingers kill me as I play my guitar
'Cause I've been chewing down at my nails
My hairline ain't exactly superstar
But there's one thing that never fails
This never fails

I write the same old song with a few new lines
And everybody wants to cheer it
I write the same old song you heard a good few times
Admit you really want to hear it "

sirmoonie And everything I know is what I need to know
Everything I do's been done before
Every sentence in my head
Someone else has said
At the end of my life is an open door

Oxie! Rhymes with Moxie!

the running order I saw a day or so ago had both of those acts on relatively early in the day....
July 1st, 2005 12:19 PM
Honky Tonk Man It's just my opinion, but I think The Who should ditch Baba O' Riley and play a couple of shorter songs. Maybe I can't Explain and My Generation. Two songs from Petey just doesn't seem enough.

Gazza maybe Macca will send the throngs home happy, fulfilled, aroused and content with an all star reprise of his great post 9/11 'anthem', "Freedom".

Knowing him, he'll probably inflict it on us twice like the Concert for New York

that song is just brutal to listen to. I really dislike it. His heart may have been in the right place, but "Hey Jude" it is not.
