Topic: Buckingham and Nicks kick ass in Boston Return to archive Page: 1 2

Sticky Toes Just picked up a copy of "Fleetwood Mac Live In Boston", a double DVD set with a bonus CD thrown in for good measure. Lindsey Buckingham's virtuoso guitar playing is a wonder to behold. Sheer majesty in sight and sound. And Stevie Nicks, despite having put on a few extra pounds of middle-age flesh, has never sounded better. For all Mac fans out there in Stones country, this is a must have. Great stuff.

MarthaMyDear HEY!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS INFO.!!! I think I might have read something about this on this board but didn't have time to read the thread, or something... Anyways, well, when I get some extra dough, I'll look into this!!! I practically wore out my copy of The Dance so I KNOW I'll enjoy this one but I'll hhave to wait until the dough is ok.... THANKS FOR THE TIP, THOUGH!!! PEACE!!!

sammy davis jr. sounds good- my question is why all these live concert DVD's are recorded in Boston? I'm not complaining, just wondering what the advantage of Boston is production-wise.

Steve Nicks is one of the worst damn singers that I have heard in the last 35 years. I cringe everytime I hear that horrid voice of hers.

Sticky Toes Yup, I can understand that. It's a voice one can consider incredibly unique and sexy, or one that sounds like a chicken in heat.
20th June 2004 09:53 AM
VoodooChileInWOnderl I agree, her voice is one of the best and probably the sexiest, but her music is totally pop-music, not rock, not blues, not authentic music

...and I complain about Buckingham and Nicks as guilty for destroying one the best British blues-bands

I have the Buckingham and Nicks solo album LP, I don't like it and I'm gonna sell it

Maybe you should compare that over-rated bitch's music to some decent female vocalists. Here's a few:

Ella Fitzgerald
Etta James
Debbie Davies
Cesaria Evora
E.C. Scott
Deitra Farr
Chick Rodgers
Koko Taylor

VoodooChileInWOnderl LOL now the peny dropped, that's why they switched from blues to pop as she can't sing the blues! However I like her voice is so sexy

More to your list:

Big Mama Thornton
Merry Clayton I made a mini website in her honor, I have almost all of her stuff including singles from 1963 and 1964 when she was a teenager
Big Time Sarah (Sarah Streeter) This ugly white-folk (read I) interviewed her back in late 2001

VoodooChileInWOnderl ...and Big Time Sarah knows how to work her mojo

Bloozehound Thanks for the heads up, might have to purchase this for the lady, she really digs the Mac and that's ok by me.

I've always loved Stevie Nicks voice.

Personally I appreciate both era's of the band, but I don't blame Stevie and Lindsey for ending their blues power.

I blame Peter Green for ducking out due to that acid casualty, mental deterioration, Syd Barret-thingy. He was the leader, plus one HELL of a guitar player & song writer.

They just went with the punches, evolved and moved in a different direction, but I think it was for the best. Sure they went pop, but it's the good kinda pop IMO.

Pretty damned remarkable success story actually, from one of the top British-blues bands to the top pop band in the world.

I do sometimes wonder what coulda been when I listen to all those early Green-era, penned gems like Oh Well, Albatros, Rattlesnake Shake, Green Manalishi & Black Magic Woman ect...great sheeat!

Bloozehound I wish they'd released remastered cd's of all the 1960 - 80's catalog, I'd snap them up in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't let my wife bring any post-1972 Fleetwood Mack albums into the house if she were so inclined. It's just not healthy for domestic bliss. She had one Kenny G album that I made her pitch into la basura before I'd let her move in. A guy needs to know where to draw the line.

Big Mama Thornton was definitely a great singer.

Big Time Sarah is a good singer, but caters to the tourist crowd in Chicago a bit too much. Her performance can depend on where you see her. I don't like going to those touristy blues clubs in the downtown part of Clark Street.

jb -- I totally agree! Christine added invaluable rhythm piano, lyrics, and sweet voice to their best work.

Today, I'm in Pittsburgh looking for a second-hand (CD) copy Christine's solo album from 1984. I can't believe it's out of print!
