star star ahhh thats a classic shot...such poise!! nice one guys!
15th June 2006 09:44 AM
glencar He looks so fragile.
15th June 2006 09:50 AM
Maxlugar Now THAT is a lead guitarist.

Ronnie needs to realize he should be a full time painter.

Mick Taylor needs to come back and end this band the right way.

Nellcote Sorry Max, donut consumption causes finger fusion.

corgi37 Why not? How many lives can a bloke have?
15th June 2006 10:43 AM
Maxlugar Mick Taylor still plays brilliantly. Ronnie Wood does not.

jpenn11 Thanks for the header--lovely way to start the day with a reminder of those wonderful sounds from 1972

jb Mick taylor, as any Stones fan knows, made such a significant impact in his short tenure with the band. He added both a hard rocking sound as well as beautiful melodies which really enhanced what Mick and Keith were doing. God bless Mick T!!!

Nellcote Your pal Shaq better start making the same significant impact tonight, or it is off to record another rap lp for him. Did you see Cuban on Letterman last night, is he full of himself or what?

Shaq and Wade got us here....he has not gone from dominating Detroit a week a go to a has been. Dallas is a difficult match-up for us. They are faster, younger and better shooters. They make Shaq a non-factor. I was at the last game and while I was happy with the heart pounding win, the writing is on the wall. Tonight will be ugly. However, unlike most fans, I am happy we got this far, and with a few changes next year, we can compete with this type of opponent. We really need a pure outside shooter and some younger bench players .

Well....that might be true but not really the point....as far as the Stones go. The Stones could have had 20 great "guitarists" to replace Taylor. But there's only one Woody and he was the right guy. FATE. God's predetermined intervention in human history.

We all like Woody and he really added something from 75-81. It's sad to see him in his current state.

Saint Sway its an excellent pic.

really captures the laid back coolness and effortless talent that he is

Just listen to the version of Sway from Japan 2006 - uggghhhh....Woody should not be attempting Mick Taylor's beautiful solos from Sway.

Oh yeah, we all love Woody so drunk he comes out waving and mugging and not playing. Rock and Roll!!!!!

jb Woody really fits in -no doubt he is a real "stone" as far as image. However, as a musician lets look at the following. Keith, in his prime, and even on some occassions, is still an incredible player. Charlie has always been the glue that holds the band together. Mick the best front man in rock. Bill was an incredible bass player who , when you listen to those boots, see what fantastic grove he added to the songs. Ronnie has had he moments...but for over 30 yrs, nothing he has done really sticks out....maybe they want it that way?

Maxlugar Oh I'm sick of this Ronnie is a Stone thing. Whatever the hell that means. Mick Taylor is more of a Stone. He was present at the best moments this band ever had. Ronnie is a Face. A Face with a rooster hair cut. That's a notch above Bay City Roller. Him and his buddy Rod Stewart. He should get props for coming to the band and, some could say, "saving" them at a crucial time. But since 1983 has pissed on his good fortune. I will be charitable and say he was pulling his weight until the VL tour. At times he dug deep and showed old form during Licks. That's it. What he is doing is worse than quitting like Mick Taylor. He is wasting our time and money. At least Mick T. had the good sense to leave when his heart wasn't into it.

I agree with Max.(I believe, however, that MT was pushed out as he was not given proper respect/credit he deserved).

P.S.-Max Lugar, JB, and Joey=posting giants/legends...

Not really Blue...Max stated the obvious. Iwas trying to be more diplomatic...Ronnie is a Stone and I like him. But lets be honest, he has not been able to come close in 30 plus years to what MT did in 6. (Joey is very talented and you know that!!)

Well, you and I are. It's been mostly a blast posting with you for the last 11 years. I raise my glass to the future and all the greatness therein.

Joey stinks! I agree that MT played better back then but I saw him at Wetlands a few years back & he was okay. His fingers aren't what they were. Too much of the Big Macca.

Do you feel he could still handle "Sway" or "CYHMK" better than Woody?
15th June 2006 01:58 PM
glencar I don't think so. But I'm not an expert.
