I have a Creative mp3 player for use on the subway and for walking around the city but probably would not have much use for it if I got around via automobile. |

great #1 song there Throwaway. Cool list. I'm a music snob but I'd let you hook up your ipod at any of my parties.

I've got the Griffin i-Trip. Its cool. Comes in handy.
I live in NYC so I just dont travel by car that much. Most of the travelling I do is by plane. So I got a cable hook up for hotel stereos as well as my home stereo.
I had one of those small Bose ipod speaker/chargers that was actually pretty cool. But the day I checked out of Half Moon in Jamaica it mysteriously dissapeared from my suitcase after I asked the attendant at the front desk to hold my bag. |

Thanks, your list ain't bad either. But damn, thats whack, those things cost a good bit. Sometimes I "borrow" my girlfriend's speakers, which look like this: Anyone here have a video i-pod, and if so, are they worth it? I'd get one if I were constantly travelling by plane, but otherwise I don't see the reason paying for its extra features. |
|
glencar |
Paranoia will destroy ya. I was referring to learning about the paraphenalia that would actually make the i-Pod usable for me. I don't like putting things into my ears but a speaker thing would work well. Now stop being such a pissy lil bitch. |

I have the video ipod. Its great. The picture quality is quite remarkable. Though I dont watch it except on flights.
I dont watch much tv at all at home. But theres certain shows that I like that I buy the season dvds of bc I'm never home to catch them. So its good because you download whole seasons of shows. I got Lost and The Office. I've got some cool band videos too - Ryan Adams, White Stripes, KOL...
hopefully the Stones will release their video catalog on itunes soon. |

Hope some people dig my list cause even though it doesn't represent all my faves, it is a slew of greats. Somne songs may not get tons of plays cause they've been in my ipod for less time or I had to make room (3600 approx. songs on my ipod, 5039 on my itunes!!!). Here it is:
1. Tell Me Momma-Bob Dylan & the Band from
Bootleg Series, vol. 4: Live at Royal Albert Hall, 1966" (perhaps his best rocker not included on an LP until its eventual release in the 90s)
2. Danger Bird-Neil Young & Crazy Horse from 1975's brilliant "Zuma" (a great, moody, almost haunting grunge tune with some downright weird lyrics, great guitar work and typical out-of-tune vocals which I love)
3. Haitian Divorce-Steely Dan from 1976's underrated "The Royal Scam" (this somehow made it cause I never felt the need to skip it and it's been on my ipod/itunes from nearly the very beginning incarnation)
4. Beside You-Van Morrison from the gorgeous "Astral Weeks," the 2nd best album of 1968-to "Beggar's Banquet" of course (very few acoustic based albums as riveting and original as this one. Takes a while to get into but if you enjoy Stones stuff like "Moonlight Mile" or "No Expectations" most of AW will knock you over)
5. The Way Young Lovers Do-same info as last tune (Almost as good as that modern jazz classic "Moondance" and it demonstrates that, even as young as 23, Van had a master lock on almost all the glorious art forms of 20th century music that are to be heard. Oh, and like the rest of AW his vocals are breathtakingly good)
6. For Those About to Rock-AC/DC as I'm sure everyone is aware of (I am not a huge fan of theirs but this 1981 classic gets my blood pumping every time I hear it so I've had it played quite a bit over the last couple of years)
7. Call Me-Al Green from 1973's legendary soul record "Call Me" (Some may not be into Al cause he's the romantic genius of soul music but to me, he is right up there with more hard-edged heroes like JB, Otis, Wilson Pickett and even Ray Charles)
8. You Oughtta Be with Me-same info as last (Sounds a lot like "Let's Stay Together" but I ain't complaining cause it's a fantastic number in its own right).
9. Come on Baby Let's Go Downtown-Neil Young again!!! From 1975's masterpiece "Tonight's the Night," which IMO is 2nd only to "Blood on the Tracks" when it comes to great Lps from that year (This was originally done with the then-alive Danny Whitten as part of Crazy Horse live in 1970. He sings it and sounds quite like a junkie but a talented one at least)
10. Deep Forbidden Lake-same guy but this one was left unreleased until a couple years after its recording on the triple-LP compilation "Decade" from 1977 (I really enjoy Neil's forays into country during the 70s but most of his country work since then falls rather flat with me. This one is lazy, ragged and serene but it's still awfully powerful stuff to my ears)
Here are the other 15:
11. Drive Back-Neil Young (1975-Zuma)
12. Monkey Man-Stones
13. Everything You Did-Steely Dan (1976-The Royal Scam)
14. Baby Please Don't Go-Them
15. Here Comes the Night-Them (both 1964 I think)
16. Dreaming from the Waist-The Who (1975-Who by the Numbers)
17. Lay Lady Lay-Bob Dylan (1969-Nashville Skyline)
18. If Not for You-Dylan (1970-New Morning)
19. Shooting Star-Dylan (1989-Oh Mercy)
20. Flying on the Ground is Wrong-Buffalo Springfield (1966 from their self-titled debut)
21. I've Been Waiting for You-Neil (1968's self-titled debut)
22. Don't Cry No Tears-Neil again (1975-Zuma)
23. Crazy Mama-Stones
24. Tops-Stones
25. Heaven-Stones |

The album catches a lot of slack, and rightfully so, but Party Doll, Say You Will, and a certain opening track are all great songs.
