Topic: Hello from Paris -- Gazza says hi! Return to archive Page: 1 2
June 9th, 2005 11:57 AM
Monkey Woman Hi all! You know Gazza is in Paris this week, enjoying a holiday with his wife. Time off from work and from the board, of course!

I saw them today, we had lunch in a café near the Opera. Among topics covered, the Stones, the board and what some board members here would do if the Stones were to stop touring in a near future... We envisioned spontaneous combustion for IanBillen, from too much internal pressure! Just kidding, Ian!

Expect some photographs not far from now. But no "stoned" pics like at the Sticky Fingers in '03! We had just a little wine!

Well, I hope I'll see him and many of you too the next year, for the Euro leg of the tour. Waiting is said to be the best part of enjoying Christmas... For the Stones, I doubt it! Rather a kind of nervous aching!

FOURCHETTE Hello MW,

n'hésite pas à publier les photos sur TWIS également !

Très content que vous ayez passé un bon moment.
June 9th, 2005 01:11 PM
Monkey Woman Sure I will, Fourchette! BTW, Gazza told me he reads TWIS sometimes. He is pretty good at reading French.

Thanks for the compliment, Martha. I wish we can have a big RO reunion one of these days!

gotdablouse Hey too bad, you guys didn't suggest an informal Paris Stones meet ;-)
June 9th, 2005 02:33 PM
Monkey Woman I don't think we could have called an impromtu meet, but that would have been cool. Gazza is a very nice guy, the more I know him the more I think so!

keith_tif You're right! In 2003, the Show in Marseille's Stadium was fantastic according press and fans! I was very surprised that a french music magazin like THE INROCKUPIBLES, that mentioned usually that Stones are finished wrote very good things about this concert! You're certainly right about the south!

I saw them in Longchamps hippodrom in Paris in 1995! It was terrible, 2 hours under an non stop storm, but the guys are very excited and it was a giant concert!

Maybe we could meet each other, why not but there is still a long time to wait!

gotdablouse Yes 2nd night in Longchamps in 1995 is probably the best stadium show I ever saw, the crowd was so packed that my pants didn't get wet in spite of the pouring rain !
After seeing them at the San Jose Arena in 1999 and at the Oakland Arena in 2002 I'm not going to a stadium show again though!

TWIS? Is it a french stonesboard? I'm taking a french class right now. This could be very helpful! Thanks.

Great! I'm glad I have heard mostly positive things about this state. Seems to be mostly good reviews on the state....(lol) I never have been there yet.

Gazza Christ..lol..little did I know my lunch appointments would make the message board

It was very nice to meet Irene again. "Madame Gazza" and I had a very enjoyable week in what has always been one of my favourite cities (it's the 8th time I've gone there on holiday - but the first time in seven years - and unfortunately my French has suffered from the inactivity)

I also visited my good friend Christian Fiot - one of the greatest Stones fans and collectors in the world - and borrowed some of his great personal collection of photos of the band that he took when they were recording "Dirty Work" at Pathe Marconi Studios 20 years ago. We'll be using them as a series of header photos shortly.

I hope to be back in Paris for the Stones shows there next summer. As they played so many UK shows last tour, I missed the 2003 Paris shows (I was there for the 1990, 1995 and 1998 outdoor shows plus I also travelled over in 1992 to see "At the Max" when it was shown at "La Geode") so I have to make sure I'm there again in 2006.

I also went to Pere Lachaise cemetery on Sunday for the first time in 18 years. Jim Morrison's final resting place is thankfully in a much better condition than it was last time I was there.
