| Sir Stonesalot |
Instead of doing a bunch of compilations this year(I'll do a Best of 2004 though...)I have decided to try something a little different.
Everyone knows that at the root of the Stones is a love of the Blues. The Blues is the difference between The Stones and The Beatles. The Stones got it...the Beatles didn't.
Each month for the rest of the year I will weed out a cool Blues boot from my collection. I will not weed out commercially available music. If you get in on the weed, and dig what you hear....go buy some music! Nasty Habits has a record store...email him, if he can't get it for you, he'll know where you can get what you are after.
Let me quickly explain the concept of a weed. It is different from a vine in that the original recording is not passed to the next person. Weeds are based on sharing....in a pyramid type system. I will pass off 5 copies of the selected discs to 5 folks...for free. No trade, no B&P, I'm just giving it away. In return, I expect each of those 5 people to pass on copies to 3 other people. Each of those people pass copies on to 3 more people...and so on and so on. I would expect that within a few weeks, everyone who wants a copy will be able to get one. Use this thread to post your offers, and use the PM function to exchange personal info.
First up....
John Lee Hooker. Bedroom Boogie.
Tracks 1-11, 11/9/76, Wise Fools Pub, Chicago
12, 7/15/85, Montreaux Jazz Festival, Switzerland
13-14, Swiss Radio Broadcast, Basel 1962
1 Boom Boom
2 Serves Me Right To Suffer
3 You Know It Ain't Right
4 Hobo Blues
5 One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer
6 Whiskey & Women
7 Crawlin' King Snake
8 Boogie Chillen
9 You Know I Love You
10 Maudie
11 Crazy 'Bout You
12 Boogie Chillen
13 I Need Some Money
14 Bundle Up & Go
This stuff is dynomite on a CDR! The sound quality is super. The performance is smokin' good. I promise you, this will knock your socks right off!
So, to get a copy of this, simply be one of the first five people to PM me here at Rocks Off...and agree to pass on three copies, for free, to others at this message board.
If you hear back from me via PM, that means you were one of the first five. If you do not hear back from me, you were not one of the first five. Keep an eye on this thread, and watch for the selected five to make their free offer. If you do not have a burner...post a beg...I'm sure someone will help you out.
Enjoy! |

Well. Well. Well. That's OLD news. Why no contest though? |
|
|
| Sir Stonesalot |
Ahhhhh...no need for a contest with this.
I may run a contest later for some giggles...but not for this. |
|
|
| Sir Stonesalot |
I still need 2 more. |

Oh. I wouldn't mind perusing through your blues collection. But I don't exactly understand "weeds" so I can't help out. I like anything free though. In fact I'd even run a contest myself but I don't have any prizes in stock.

Weeds are pretty simple, easy, and quick...which is why I picked it to distribute this disc.
All you gotta do is make 3 copies, post an offer for those 3 copies on this thread, and mail out the three copies to whomever responds to your offer.
Can't get much more simple than that. |

The Hook was one I never could get into. November '76 @ Wisefool Pub, damn, I was born too late.
As June Core, Little Charlie's drummer at the time, told me when I informed him JLH was playing a fest not far from the club Little C and the Nightcats were playing that night in 1998, "I'd go see the Hook." I never did see the Hook. |

Oh, and polksalad69....ANYONE can get into this disc. His rythmic choogling gets inside yer skull and just rattles around. Your toes will tap. Even if you are white. Your head will bob of it's own free will. There is just no stopping it. Well, I guess you could stop it if you were a brain eating zombie...but not if you got red blood in ya!
I like the one that goes nuh nuh nuhnuh nuh/nuh nuh nuhnuh nuh...and then there's that other one that goes nuh nuh nuhnuh nuh/nuh nuh nuhnuh nuh.
Then there is that one that goes nuh nuh nuhnuh nuh/nuh nuh nuhnuh nuh. That one is pretty cool too.
JLH...the best one trick pony in Blues. |
