Just, ya know, checking.
I wouldn't wanna be forlorn if I don't have to.
I had to look up forlorn, I didn't even know what it meant.

"Easter": Old English eastre, variation of the Germanic *austron-, a dawn goddess whose holiday was celebrated at the vernal equinox; cognate with Latin Aurora, Dawn and Greek eos, dawn, all deriving from Indo-European aus-os, goddess of the dawn; suffixed form of Indo-European root awes-; root of Germanic words for the east (<"the direction of the sunrise")
The associations should be clear enough: dawn=east=spring=new light=new life=fertility=eggs & bunnies. The "resurrection" myth fits perfectly into this nature-based, observable-phenomena-derived pagan worldview, just as the "birth" of Yeheshuah ben-Yusef ("Jesus") fits with the celebration of the return of light and the birth of the Sun God at the Winter Solstice ("Christmas"). We pagans can't blame Christians for expropriating our holidays, since those holidays resonate with humanity's biological core and reflect the physical and spiritual reality of the universe. We rightly object to the Inquisitors and their heirs claiming a copyright on these celebrations and prating about their "true meaning" when they know nothing of it.

What's really sad is that while we're all here - some longer and more dedicated than others - with the Stones as our common thread, we all talk as if we're friends and a close-knit community. "Family", as many put it.
Once someone finds themself with their foot in their mouth because they've offended someone, suddenly it's a "public board" - no more family; no close-knit association; no nothing. The shoulders go up and they can do no wrong. Are people really too good to offer an apology?
A short while ago, someone started a thread about "first posts" by members. Interested, I searched back through the archives. What I saw, was a time when people on this board really cared for the Stones and each other. Appreciation threads didn't exist because while the message board was new, refreshing and unique, people had a stronger sense of community and had a genuine Stones-related place to share with others.
While my post count isn't as high and many others, I'm an original member of this board and Goin Home. Over the years I've seen members come, and more sadly, go. I no longer question why.
Do I care what people think about my faith? No. Do people know my faith? No. Do they stop to think if my reply was serious, or just a joke to see what kind of response I'd get? No. Unfortunately, we've seen the reactions of people who don't care about others, just themselves. It's too bad that with religion and politics aside, people can't treat each other with respect and dignity. If you offend someone, rather than saying sorry, they say screw you.
Carry on...
Very disturbing post.
I've always admired you LB and I'm very very sorry that our
irreverance has insulted your beliefs.
That said, as an original member of RO you have to know that nothing is sacred around here.
Perhaps we went too far this time, and I certainly would hate to see you leave the Board.
Happy Easter!

i had a vision in a dream last night... i don't know what it means, or at least I'm not sure. Is God speaking to me?
In the vision, there was alot of people, they were all sad, and walking slowly with heads bowed down... It began to rain, everyone got wet, the rain mixed with the tears, some began to wail, and still they walked on... Then we came to these big doors and walked inside. It was loud with lights all around, noise and strange smells. Was this hell? Then I cleared the tears from my eyes, looked up, and there was Scope and Lady Jane, arms outstretched to take me in embrace... Then I realized, where I was and what had happened, The Stones had cancelled the show, I was in a casino in AC!

Hard times as we go
We know what times will change
I talked to Jesus
Jesus says I'm okay
Pushin and jumpin
Jumpin the mountain range
And in a railroad
Railroad from Hell to Maine
While she says she's on her own
I'll be pacin on the phone
Sneakin on the train come back
Awful sick and tired of the gang
She comes from nothing
Hopin for a taste of fame
She's got a birthmark
A birthmark the shape of Maine
While she says she's on her own
I'll be pacin on the phone
Sneakin on the train come back
Awful sick and tired of the gang
And it's cold and it's cold and it's cold and it's cold when you're near
Cold when you're near any bottle
And it's cold and it's cold and it's cold when you're near
Cold when you're near any bottle
And it's cold and it's cold and it's cold when you're near
Cold when you're near any bottle
Hard times as we go
We know where times will change
I talk to Jesus
Jesus everyday
Hard times as we go |

nice try pdog, but these are just lyrics from a lame Jagger song!
In the vision
there was alot of people
they were all sad
and walking slowly with heads bowed down
It began to rain
everyone got wet
the rain mixed with the tears
some began to wail
and still they walked on
And the rain fell down
On the cold hard ground
And the phone kept ringing
And we made sweet love |
