R.I.P. : Bob Carlos Clarke
" Bob Carlos Clarke has died in a road accident. Bob took the sleeve photo for my solo album Empty Glass and was a joy to work with. I haven't been in contact with him for a long time, but he was a photographer of great skill - especially in his coloured and burned printing methods - who, like Helmut Newton, managed to make powerfully erotic fashion photography without any sense of sleaze. But his work went way beyond the erotic nude. He was light-hearted, reliable, witty, but with a public school accent never betrayed his natural elegance and charm. I look forward to an exhibition of his work soon. "

Glass Houses is when he left his balladeer phase behind for a while. |

You may be wrong, but you may be right...
Good pun, but seriously Billy Joel sucks. Even when he "rocks out" on Glass Houses, he sucks. He couldn't hold a candle to Elton, and only some of his work can match even Elton's gay-addled, cocaine-fuelled, fat-ass years of crap like "Nikita" and "Sacrifice" or "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" Silly Billy. "It's Still Rock & Roll to Me"? Good for you, pal. If your idea of rock excellence is Jay & the Americans or whatever. Only Billy Joel songs I can tolerate: "Say Goodbye to Hollywood," "New York State of Mind," "The Stranger," "Only the Good Die Young" "You May Be Right" "Allentown," "I Go to Extremes" and lots of that An Innocent Man album (cause he's impersonating memorable music of the 50s and 60s). Everything else annoys me. |

Prodigal, you're being too kind to Billy Joel. The only Billy Joel song that doesn't make me immediately change the radio station is "New York State of Mind."
