Jumacfly Agree with Gazza about BTB.
very underrated project,I love the whole songs, even the ballads got a great sound.
why?? because the record is extremly well produced, for example if you listen to already over me,a decent song but not a masterpiece, you can hear many guitars, acoustics, slide, electric that gives the song a great mood.
gunface, lowdown (this alto sax on the chorus, yeah!!)flip are raw stones songs that kick ass.
saint of me and out of control are the highlights, clearly!!
the ballads, the keith songs, the jazzy end...
for all those reasons I m not a fan of most ABB.

cheers!!

ps: VERY INTERESTING THREAD THANK YOU PERKIE!!!

Just a comparison:
Metamorphosis US peak position: #8 (3 wks on top 10)
Rarities US peak position: #76

Metamorphosis didn't get a RIAA certification still, but the album has sold way more than 500k to date.
Back on 2002, it re-entered at #50 on Billboard's catalog chart and the SACD re-issue has sold more than 30,000 copies to date.

Thanks for that info, I had no idea Metamorphosis did that well, it certainly does have a lot more gems on it than Rarities, thats for sure. The SACD remaster was incredible, before I only had a cassette in not so great shape.

Couldn't have said it better myself....
Mick sounds dangerous on lowdown and gunface -those songs just flat out rock...

blackandblue A Bigger Bang is the best album since Tattoo You. No doubt.
Simply because it has the best songs. It's not a spectacular record but a very solid one. Unfortunately they don't play the 2 best songs live (Dangerous Beauty, Laugh).

BILL PERKS THANKS, THIS PLACE HAS LACKED SOME RELEVANCE LATELY.

tumbling dice 1- Voodoo Lounge

It`s an honest album.VL is a little introspective,itīs not a party album but it got dignity.Jagger came back to the harp sounds and his voice became more personal and real.

Best songs- Love is Strong,Thru & thru and Out of Tears
Worst-New Faces and Mean Disposition

2- A Bigger Bang

It got the same feeling of Voodoo Lounge but itīs more fast.ABB is very basic record ,organic.
sadly it not have any hit single.

Best songs- Laugh I nearly died.Let me down slow and ONNYA
worst-SOL and Neocon

3- Bridges To Babylon

I like the experiments of Bridges. It was their most strange album since Their Satanic...

Best songs- Saint of me,Out of control and Anybody seen my baby(their last radio friendly tune)
Worst-Always suffering and Already over me

4- Steel Wheels

Slick production, too glossy! It worked well at the times of realized.Optimistic but dated.

Best songs - Mixed emotions ,Almost hear your sigh and Slipping away.

worst- Blinded by love

THE FOUR RECORDS FOLLOWING WWIII HAVE BEEN REVISITED IN THEIR ENTIRETY BY PERKS

THEY RANK IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER
1- VOODOO LOUNGE(1994)
THIS RECORD WOULD BE AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE IF NOT FOR 2 ISSUES.FIRST,BABY BREAK IT DOWN SUCKS AND SHOULD HAVE REPLACED WITH THE STORM..THE OTHER IS THE LINE "SHARKS WILL CRY"..OTHER THAN THAT IT A GREAT LISTEN AND ONE OF THEIR BEST RECORDS.
GEMS-YGMR,NEW FACES,OUT OF TEARS,MEAN DISPOSITION
2-A BIGGER BANG (2006)
A LITTLE LONG,SHOULD HAVE OMITTED NEOCON,BOMH AND THE LYRICS TO LET ME DOWN SLOW AND ONNYA ARE ABYSMAL..OTHER THAN THAT IT'S GOT THE DIVERSITY OF STYLES PERKS ENJOYS SO MUCH AND ENOUGH ROCKERS TO KEEP HIM JUMPIN.ANOTHER RECORD LIKE IT WOULD BE BETTER THAN ANOTHER TOUR FOR ME.
GEMS- ROUGH JUSTICE, LAUGH, DANGEROUS BEAUTY, DRIVIN TOO FAST
3-BRIDGES TO BABYLON (1997)
A GOOD RECORD,BUT TOO AMBITIOUS.THE DUST BROS. FUCKED UP 3 SONGS WITH GOOD POTENTIAL WHILE GUNFACE KICKS MAJOR ASS AS DOES TOO TIGHT.KEEF'S TUNES ARE ALL GOOD.
GEMS-TOO TIGHT,GUNFACE,HOW CAN I STOP,FLIP THE SWITCH
4-STEEL WHEELS (1989)
MEDIOCRE RECORD THAT SOUNDED GREAT AT THE TIME..TOO RUSHED, ROCK AND A HARD PLACE IS REALLY LAME AS IS TERRIFYING..NOT BAD THOUGH TO ACCOMPANY THE TOUR.
GEMS-ALMOST HEAR YOU SIGH,CONTINENTAL DRIFT,HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT,SLIPPIN AWAY

DISCUSS

I'm late to the thread, but I have to say:

#1 Voodoo (near masterpiece - they should have released most of what's on Voodoo Brew instead)

#2 Bridges - most underrated out of the last 4. This is what fans claimed they wanted from stones in the 90s all along: their classic abilities (flip the switch) with more modern nuances and experiments (might as well get juiced). They were scared off of experimenting like this with the bad reaction, and we end up with ABB and its no-risk approach. Bummer. Speaking of ABB..

#3 ABB. Good, not great.

#4 Steel Wheels: Utter garbage.

I like the admiral hat myself, it really goes with the gloves. Paris really knows how to accessorize.

They didnt really put much effort into TY...it's mostly outakes and throwaways from the earlier 10 years...IMO...it shows
