Riffhard Apperently our posts crossed in the internet galaxy. Thanks for the hints pdog. I'm just wondering what software I should download for the conversion. Plus, is it easy to load these files to my I-Pod? And, can I burn the disk as a regulard CD for use in my car or home stereo? I was thinking if I could do that then I'd just delete the file to save room on my HD.

GotToRollMe Riffy, you may have to download the FLAC codec to your computer if you've never used it before:
http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=flac&filename=flac-1.2.1b.exe&use_mirror=internap

Easy CD-DA Extractor is the handiest software I've found for ripping, converting and burning audio files. You can keep the files in FLAC format and just burn them to disc:
http://www.poikosoft.com/
It's not free, but it's worth it.

PartyDoll MEG Ok all mine are free ..

if you have an ipod and don't want to burn a disc..just get this freeware:http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fi...escription.html
This will convert your files to wav and you can put them in itunes. Just drag the flac files to the program and decode.

if you are a diligent burner this freeware will convert/burn your files to cd : http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fi...escription.html

You can listen on your computer with the freebie foobar:http://www.foobar2000.org/

Hope that is enough lowdown and dirty for ya!

Yeah... once you get the hang of stuff, remeber , don't just grab and go. you can still burn a disc, and seed, you just need to make the space on the HD... Wait til you see all the torrent sites out there, there's a whole new wotrld awaiting.

Riffhard Thanks ladies and gents! I will get these programs as soon as I get home from work later tonight.

I'm still uncertain of how the whole thing works, but I did read that in order to do right by your fellow torrenter you should allow the stream to stay open for at least a few hours after the download is complete. I have no idea why this is, but I was promissed good karma if I did this. So, you know, I got that going for me.

I use foobar and it will also convert them to wav by right clicking.

Good luck Riffhard, you will be addicted to torrents in no time. This particular album is indeed incredible sounding.

Ventilator Blues I don't think i've heard this version before... If I did, it was on a release that was so hissy and crappy, I passed it over and forgot it. This is a very raw, just jammin' it in the studio version. Probably one of the earlies version, while the song was being worked... oh... no hiss, and despite how rough it is, it's not rough to listen to, in fact it's so clear, you might think you're in Keith's Nellcote basement and it is 1972. The only down side, is when Jagger does the vocals, his mic is really hot, and the vocals are up, but it isn't as bad as it may sound, and after the first verse or so it levels out. My first real complaint, and You need to know, it is minor... I wouldn't send this dish back to the kitchen... no way!

This version sounds like its from the Dallas rehearsals they did in the middle of the 1972 tour

Riffhard Ok so I did the whole download. I then converted the file via the foobar program. Now all I need to know is how to transfer the tunes over to my ITunes so I can upload them inot my I-Pod.

They absolutly fantastic btw!

You could just get Skype and I could send it to you...much easier...Frankly, I'm not sure why this isn't being done more...it's the same concept only not so much subject to the grab and go

Itunes should have a media search option...make it search the folder you saved the tunes and then it will be in Itunes and then, of course, it can go to yout Ipod

LOL! I'd love to figure this Skyp thing out, but I'm having a hell of time just trying to transfer these tunes to my I-Tunes at present. What the hell is Skype anyway?

There is nothing to figure out really...in short, it's an internet phone...you can also use to transfer files...you can call any computer in the world for free as long as you have a microphone ($10) and speakers...the sound quaility is just as good as phone most of the time....it's a lot easier than what you're trying to do now...and it's free

Egon and I are pioneering this process...they will write about us in tech journals

PartyDoll MEG Riffy..I am not an expert on foobar. I just use it to listen to the files to see if they are any good before I burn.

Open your folder. If the songs are still listed in flac format than foobar did not convert them to wav. The program I listed awhile ago does this(flac frotend):http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fi...escription.html. Once they are converted, just add the folder to your iTunes.

Make sure you are not still seeding the torrent when you do this, as the flac files will be replaced with wav files. I'm sure there is a way to preserve the flac files too, if you are a purist. I just haven't been bothered to figure it out.

Thanks Meg. I just used foobar, and converted them from that program by doing the right click dealio. I then burn them to disk, and then downloaded the disk into my I-Tunes. So while I may have taken the long way around, I did eventually get there! Sounds great! Thanks for all your help.

PartyDoll MEG HEY..so glad you finally get to enjoy the wealth of bootleg shows out there..before someone decides to pull this plug too....

It usually is faster just to burn the disc and upload to itunes. That is the way I do it most of the time!

I do it that way too alot... Mostly b/c I want a copy for my CD player and a type of back up CD... Now that I have a 500 gig ext. I can have a third option for storage. You can just drop and drag files into iTunes. Then you can edit and info on them, if iTunes doesn't recognize them. If your importing prefernce is set up to Mp3, you can high light files go into advanced and convert them to Mp3 right in iTunes, and then delete the wav files. Also, check your preferences in iTunes, you may want to have it do certain things or not do certain things. You can burn CD's using iTunes as well, but not want them to go into the library ect... Hopefully i just made sense.

You know there are other torrent trackers that you can get just about anything by anyone?...and most of those don't require you to convert FLAC files...just google what you want + torrent and see what happens

Riffy, Dimeadozen would be the best place to start (for music anyway. You'll find that you can get all kinds of things on torrent trackers.) The membership is probably full now, but just keep trying to register and sooner or later you'll get in:
http://www.dimeadozen.org/index.php

And he's off!

DVDs is whole other ball of wax...do you have a DVD burner on your CPU?...If not, I wouldn't waste the hard drive space...they're huge files...and if you don't know how to burn ISO files to a playable DVD you need to learn...

That's what I'm sayin'! It ain't easy for me figure this shit out. I just had 8 tracks mastered and they went and killed them.

As for the DVDs I too feel that the disk space required may limit my interest. Is there a way to dump all of these files form your PC once you get them all burned? I mean that would free up some space, right?
