Anyone willing to post a bit of explanation on the bit torrent stuff. I've downloaded some files and tried to figure out how to play them - even went to some site I found about the stuff...it was beyond me. Can anybody provide a simple explanation or a reference to a good site that can do so. Thanks.

Easytree takes patience if you want to join the community. There is a limit size of regulars. Keep trying and you will get what you need

Para cadastrar no Easytree você precisa ter paciência meu velho, para conseguir se cadastrar. Há um limite de usuários. Continue tentando e você conseguirá tudo que quer.

On tradersden.org you can easily gain access and there are tons of bootlegs, not only Stones (as well as on the other links). Everydayjones is a must!!! First, visit AZUREUS website. Azureus is the best and easiest bit torrent client, the software that takes care of transfering those huge files.

I hope you have understood my explanation Gustavo. But remember, FUCK OFF MP3 crap bullshit.......DON'T EVER CALL ME YOUR FUCKIN' DRUMMER, I mean... heheh.... DON'T EVER CONVERT THIS JEWELS TO MP3.

Just send me an e-mail and I can help you out starting with this thing that makes me happy day by day.
I'm awaiting.

Feliz Carnaval. And yeah, let's trade, I've finally bought a tube of CD-Rs.

The above 3 links are enough, not only Stones, but EVERY DAMN THING

mac_daddy here is the sbd source to the september 26, 1981 gig. the source of the 9/25 gig that he seeded a little bit ago was stellar - it surpasses our "tattoo board" source (the swarm is still active, too). hopefully this one will be of the same ilk...

coincidentally, i will be seeding AUD versions of these two shows very soon (thanks to t&a for sending me the cassettes). before i do, however, i am going to resseed the 10/14/1981 transfer on ezt...

of course, i will post links when i have them...

Make It Funky Charlotte,

Hey darlin.. I still can't figure out this Torrent thing.
I see your Roseland posting.. How do I get it? Why can't I have it? What do I have to do to get it? I just DONT understand! :-(

None of this makes sense. I'm actually educated and a teacher, but I DONT get this stuff. Why can't I just tell it what I want, and have it play for me? Why so much red-tape? Whats the problem? This is beyond frustrating.

Cheers.

HOw so Gugu.... tell me what is going wrong and maybe I can help you. If you have the cheapest Speedy connection, you surely are able to torrent. Remember, first of all, download the torrent client, AZUREUS. Then, sign up those communities.

Andy L Hey everyone, it's nice to see some fellow BitTorrent zealots on here I seeded (shared) the VGP release of London 8/9/1973 (1st) from my original silver CD on TTD last month, and I'll be seeding more VGPs there, all ripped from my originals using (a properly configured) EAC.

BitTorrent isn't hard to use - if you're just starting out, I'd recommend BitTornado over Azureus, which can be quite fiddly. Just pick a show you want, and download the .torrent file. Load that into your BT software and the real download will start.

A lot of downloads come in FLAC format, which is lossless. These will play in WinAmp or (better still) Foobar2000. Once downloaded, you can use FLAC Frontend to convert FLAC files into .wav format, which can then be burned to CD-R. If you do that, NEVER re-rip the CD-Rs and seed them - this will introduce pops, clicks, dropouts and diginoise into the files and pollute the trading pool. Many serious traders (like myself) don't even bother burning CD-Rs any more - they just keep the original FLAC files as downloaded and trade those instead.

Gazza Thanks for the tips, Andy & welcome to Rocks Off.

I actually missed that London '73 show (saw the title "Timeless" and just assumed it was "Timeless Europe" which I already have)

Went just now to try and download it but the error message "10061 connection refused" suggests the seeder is firewalled.

If anyone who has it could open a window I'd appreciate it

Cheers Gazza... I think TTD are having a few problems with their tracker right now - I'm trying to download Licks England 2003 myself. If you leave it running for a bit, you might still be able to connect to a few peers and download, albeit a bit more slowly.
February 13th, 2005 10:44 AM

Why does this "re-rip problem" occur?

Will the same "re-rip problem" occur with shn files?

What program do you recommend using for converting .shn to .wav?

The re-rip problem occurs because most people don't use an error correcting ripper (such as EAC in secure mode), which will re-read a scratched or damaged part of the CD until the data has been read properly. Even when EAC is used to re-rip, there is no guarantee that person will have it configured properly, e.g. read and write offsets. It's best just to keep the CD-R generations to a minimum.

SHN files are data files (just like an MS Word document, for example) so you're not ripping anything. There should be no loss or change in data when you're copying them, assuming your computer is working properly. A lot of SHNs come with .md5 files, which can be used to double-check that you have an exact copy of the original SHNs.

I personally use Foobar2000 to convert SHNs, but mkwACT is the easiest to use, and if an .md5 file is included with the SHN file set, it will automatically verify them for you.

Thanks m_d, I enjoyed your Seattle 14/10/81 tape a lot... I'm looking forward to your next seeded tapes.

Charlotte, I would help reseed, but I deleted the files off my hard disk ages ago... I reckon you'll be able to finish, they're pretty good at helping latecomers at TTD.

Same here. Great show and I really enjoyed it.

I will receive a ton of lowgen material (some of which should be very interesting...) within the next few weeks and will torrent some of these shows as soon as possible.

BTW my MSG 11-28-69 (2nd) is still active:

Cool, I can't wait! Let's hope TTD stays up long enough for you to seed them, they seem to be having an awful lot of trouble at the moment.
