Coming down again
Share your thoughts, there's nothing you can't hide
She was dying to survive
I was caught, oh taken for a ride
She was showing no surprise
Coming down again
Where are all my friends?
Coming down again
Coming down again
On the ground again
Coming down again
Slipped my tongue in someone else's pie
Tasting better every time
She turned green and tried to make me cry
Being hungry, it ain't no crime
Coming down again
All my time's been spent coming down again
Coming down again
Sky fall down again
Yeah baby...
What a mellow, sad, dark, beautiful little song this is, no? Keith down in the gutter, depressed and alone. My most favorite part of it is when he sings "All my time's been spent coming down again".
You can say that again baby.
And it's a lot about heroin (KR: I wonder about the songs I've written: I really like the ones I did when I was on (heroin). I wouldn't have written Coming Down Again without that ) but at the same time it's about so much more: losing your love, losing your god damn friends, losing hope, losing your self. Shit, it's beautiful!
Would love to listen to a 00's live version of that, wouldn't you? Keith's huskier voice would do it justice, me thinks.

That song describes a feeling, at a time and place in my life, I never would've been able to describe...

great song, has a kind of winter-time feel to it, so it goes well drivin home on the icy expressway today! Such a sublime song really, especially when MJ's bvox kick in. |

Great tune, very melancholy. It definitely evokes a specific time and place for me, anyway. I always liked how he sang "Slipped my tongue in someone else's pie" and "Being hungry, it ain't no crime."

Yeah, and I love the way Charlie keeps delaying the beat throughout the song. There you see what a classy player Charlie is! |

I always assumed that line was a reference to Anita.

Brian "turned green" because Keith stole Anita from him. That's what the song seems to be about, along with just Keith's junkie struggles of the early 70s. |

Keith at his laid-back best. There isn't an off note or lyric in this sublime opiated classic. I especially love Bobby Keys' swirling sax solo. |
