I hope these hadn't been posted already, cuz I'm beginning to lose track

All pics by the great Lynn Goldsmith, except the last one, by Neil Preston |

Caro, that's what I like to see... fantastic '78 pics, topped off by Keith Richards, card-carrying member of the New Barbarians! Thanks for those. |

Thanks, Child of the Moon!
Actually I was wondering, because on the corbis-site, they say the 2nd and 3rd pic are from 1981-82. They do look older, so indeed, 1978 sounds more logical. |
|
|
| Child of the Moon |
Yeah, that's definitely '78 Keith, for one thing. Mick's also wearing that quasi-punkish shirt and pants combo, instead of the '81 football pants and tanktop.
'78... what a friggin' tour! |

I don't know if they have been posted before, but your pics are gorgeous, Caro! Thanks!
Oh, and here's a new one from Corbis, for the pleasure of all Mick-, Keith- and Ronnie-aholics!

I don't have any doubt about Lynn being great, in fact she has personally donated me some digital pix, but that one is by Kate Simon |

Aaah! Drooling time! Click the link to see that amazing picture... Let's just say that the zipper couldn't have gone much farther down without attracting censure!

It's good to learn that the 1972 MJ in the white hat is a Perier, because that narrows down the possible venues. Perier did late tour, East coast shows.
Actually, the pic cannot be Pittsburgh, because MJ wore the purple jumpsuit there. This one is most likely from the Philly matinee on July 21.

Stop correcting everything I write!!! (just kidding )
Hi Stoneslib, the pic is taken from Périer's book, and on the page I scanned, there's another pic from Pittsburgh where he wears the purple jumpsuit (the scan quality was really bad, so I'm not gonna post it here). The thing he's wearing on the "white hat" pic actually looks like the jumpsuit, doesn't it? Maybe it's just the stage lights that make it look white.
I don't really know..but Périer seemed to remember those shows quite precisely. One day, I'll post his hilarious comments on the tour. But it'll take me some time to make a decent translation

Thanks, Caro, knowing the pic is from a Perier book *really* helps me. What is the title of Perier's book with the 1972 pics?
FYI, I follow 1972 tour clothing details very closely.

The title is "Mes années 60, tome 1" ("my sixties" in english), you can find it here:
http://www.amazon.fr/exec/obidos/ASIN/2850186171/qid=1064777527/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_2_3/171-4699481-6949022
be careful, cause there's a "sequel" (tome 2). As far as I remember, (not sure, though) the pic I posted is from Tome 1.
There are a few pics from 71-72, but most of them are early Stones (65-66, I'd say). And plenty of pics of schmaltzy french sixties singers |

I wonder if the person who wrote pictures notes in J.M.Perier's book maybe confused Pittsburgh with Philadelphia, which was the Stones's next stop in 1972. And in that town, as Stonelib's collection shows, Mick wore a white jumpsuit very much like the one in Caro's pic:

(BTW, chouette avatar, Caro! Le loup de F'murr, pas vrai?! Je suis une fan aussi, j'avoue!) |

Errhm! Correction: Pittsburgh was the next stop after Philadelphia, of course, not the other way round. |

Hi Monkey Woman! Would you translate a half page of Périer comments for me? Huh? No? Oh... *sigh*
Yes, the avatar is by F'murr. Didn't expect anyone to know that one! |
