Eeeekkkkk!!
Too many to mention!
But bands that are consistently up there in 2nd place at different times:
QUEENSRYCHE - Seattle metallers going since the early 1980's
THE HUMAN LEAGUE - Yorkshire synth pop band, known mainly for 1 massive song but have a great back catalogue (and great live)
CHIC - 70's funk / disco legends

Yes, Virginia, lol. I never heard them in person, but I for
sure heard them all over the radio. I moved to Va. from Ill. in '68 and all that the kids seemed to care about where I
was were groups like Bill Deal, the Tams and Chairman
of the Board. And I would try to talk Stones and Beatles
and Who and Yardbirds with them and they would say stuff
like "Yeah, they're all right, but have you heard 'May I'?" Uh, yeah. Yuck. So I guess I was just ready to
desperately NOT like beach music. Hey, I respect that you
like it. But you won't find me dancin' the shag to old
Bill Deal {RIP} anytime soon...lol

Oh shoot, I keep forgetting Petty....
There are a few artists who's body of work I just love.
I mean, I've never heard anything they ever did that I
did NOT like. Now, maybe that's because most of their
stuff sounds the same--who knows? But those artists are:
Stephen Stills
Pete Townshend
Tom Petty

Lately #2 has been Rush. I saw them this summer and they were great. I quickly got all their albums and lots of boots. It seems like I'm listening to them every day.
In permanent rotation in the #2 slot are: The Who, Led Zep, Allmans, Pearl Jam, Yes...all bands I can listen to for hours without a break.
