So does anyone know what was played the other night at the private gig in Vegas? How long was the show? Any odd tracks, or just GH tunes?
11-17-02 07:51 PM
Gazza No idea as yet...sincerely hope they played for about 45 minutes for those non-fans. I'd imagine it was a greatest hits set for the most part - I doubt those pricks would appreciate a few obscure nuggets in favour of the five or six standards they know well enough to rattle their jewellery along to
11-17-02 09:12 PM
Angiegirl Maybe they just did a cover of Pink Floyd's 'Money'...

'Money...it's a gas...'

stonedinaustralia thanx fmk - that was so depressing i couldn't bring myself to read it all - what can you do - why would they feel the need to do a show like that??

Maxlugar There is an article with pics in today's NY Post.

I hate when they do shows like this too but hey that's damn good money.

They played for about 40 mintues so they didn't even break a sweat.

Good for them.

Well, what can a poor boy do, except to sing for a millionaire man. 'Cause in Las Vegas there's just no place for street fighting band.
11-18-02 09:24 AM
FotiniD >>Ihate when they do shows like this too but hey that's >>damn good money.

And I ask myself: like DO THEY NEED THE MONEY??? Come on now, they got enough to outlive themselves, their sons and daughters, their grandsons and grandaughters and dare I say even longer. What on earth do they need the money for??? Do they need the money that bad, to play in front of a bunch of people who couldn't care less??

It's the Stones, and I love them so stupidly I could just about put up with anything they do and "forgive" them. (Not like they need me to forgive them, just personally speaking). But it's kind of sad to see them performing under such circumstances where money is the obvious and only motivation. What about Keith's "fun" motive about this tour? Well, I guess it's fun to couple some extra bucks as well but come on... I think it was a stupid choice. I wouldn't do it. Honestly.

But as I said, love them stupidly. What can you say.

Maxlugar A wise man once sang into a microphone:

You can make a lot of money......but you just want more.

YES!

$tones!
11-18-02 10:12 AM
Dandelion* Um...what is everyone upset about? "Forgive"???? Jesus...
11-18-02 10:18 AM
sirmoonie The thought of Mellenhead singing Gimme Shelter with Mick, just took my BCI for this tour down into the mid-80s. Thats disgusting.

Maxy's sobriety isn't making me any happier either.
11-18-02 10:36 AM
jb Why did an article say that by playing for the 7 million, it supported rumors that they were going to break up early next year?
11-18-02 11:20 AM
Nasty Habits If I had seven million dollars I would hire the Stones to play a local club and invite you all.

11-18-02 11:24 AM
Maxlugar Cool!

Just water for me though....

I'm clean now.

Maxy!
11-18-02 11:31 AM
nankerphelge Did Maxy overindulge this weekend?

I tried a mix of Irish Whiskey and some hybrid chiba from Vancouver. Wow! Oh, by the way, my weenie doesn't like fire either!

Anyone know the number for DC Med.'s burn unit?

Hey, relax! I already said that I'm speaking on behalf of ME... So the "forgive" word is an over-statement, but just speaking personally, right? We all have our expectations from the Stones, sorry. It's only true. I'm not upset with it, I'm quite used to it by now actually. I just don't like it, but that's just my opinion!

I think I can express that! Jesus indeed!
11-18-02 11:50 AM
Maxlugar Yes Nanky, Maxy Noltied in front of his whole family at my wifes baby shower on Saturday.

The men started showing up at 11:30AM to party down in the Subterranean Tavern at Casa De Maxy...

Approximately 12 hours later I was still down there in full Nolt.

Little kids were horrified....

Old people were disgusted....

This is all after I basically did the same thing the night before by myself.

I have put up police tape around the bar until further notice.

Maxy is getting his life in order.

Impacting...........

11-18-02 12:02 PM
padre I sure hope this Bladderman is at least a hardcore Stonesfan and didn't do it just because he CAN do it. I don't want to think what would've happened if Dollarman would've offered to pay a few bucks extra to have Mick Taylor on guitar, too...
No question about it after this one why The Stones are doing this tour. "The fun factor"? Yeah, right...Dance for me monkey boy! Hearts for sale, going cheap.
11-18-02 12:29 PM
Scottfree I thought you were sober Max? Now your claiming your clean which is it?
11-18-02 12:37 PM
Maxlugar I'm both. Jealous?
11-18-02 01:23 PM
nankerphelge Yeah well, the Stones sirens will call you into the rocks once again I'm afraid -- maybe you'll last a week -- maybe a month. But you'll never make it past January 18th!

11-18-02 01:28 PM
Maxlugar That's one of the first things I thought of when I made my tough but very brave decision, Nanky......

How do I go see the Stones with all my Stonesian kin in January and still remain sober? What, with all their various substance abuse problems, how will little Maxy get through it?

This will be my finest hour!

STONES ADD ‘FLASH' TO BILLIONAIRE BASH
By BRAD HUNTER

Dennis Kozlowski, eat your heart out.

The disgraced Tyco pooh-bah - whose $2 million Sardinia bash for his wife's
40th birthday included ice sculptures of David peeing Stoli - has nothing on
Texas billionaire David Bonderman.

Bonderman threw an estimated $10 million bash in celebration of his 60th
birthday last night that featured private performances by the Rolling Stones,
John Mellencamp and Robin Williams at Las Vegas' Hard Rock Cafe.

"It was really amazing, all that money," one source told The Post. "But it was
mostly conservative businessmen; it wasn't a wild bash."

Bonderman - a Fort Worth mogul who runs the Texas Pacific Group -
reportedly paid the Stones $6.75 million to perform a 40-minute set that
featured standards like "Jumpin' Jack Flash."

At last night's party, 300 to 400 mostly middle-aged guests were flown into
the gambling mecca for the evening.

Bonderman has access to more than $8 billion in equity capital, so putting on
the pricey party was as easy as going to HMV. He's best known for rescuing
Continental Airlines from bankruptcy several years ago.

The extravaganza kicked off at Bellago, where the billionaire and his pals
enjoyed a multi-course dinner while being entertained by legendary funnyman
Williams - who reportedly charges $1 million for private appearances.

Then the guests piled into buses for the five-minute ride to the Hard Rock
Cafe's The Joint, where Williams acted as emcee. Mellencamp played a
45-minute set, followed by the Stones.

"When [guests] arrived, they were handed glasses of champagne," the
source said.

"A real shirt-and-jacket group, rocking away in their loafers."

I'll go down there and tag along with you so you can't go into any bars. Then I'll read "Old Gods Almost Dead" at you until you fall catatonic. I'll hand you off to whoever's most sober at the time (sorry Voodoo, from reports I've read, you loose!) and they'll prop you up and reanimate you down on the floor.

Or maybe they'll pass you up to Lisa for some mouth-to-mouth.

Oh, damn. You're married. Otherwise you wouldn't be having a baby shower. Damnit.

You take the fun out of everything.

Your wife has another client to clean, Ronnie!

luxury1 Maxyman--remember to eat this time, could help.
Although, I may be with you on the Sober Train. I want to start the new year seeing the Stones with all my faculties intact, (for once)--but then, you guys might not recognize me.
11-19-02 08:39 AM
nankerphelge Oh yeah, that'll happen -- you and Max sober before a Stones show.

The smart money is on a double-Nolte!!!
