SheRat I am actually going to see Joan Jett tomorrow night at the Fillmore.

Sandy West lives forever in the Runaways' BEST song, "Deadend Justice."

"In the naked city
Spaces aint that pretty
As I was getting dusted
I happened to get busted
Oh yes I was arrested
Oh God how I protested
They beat me with a board
It hurt just like a sword
They kicked me in the eye
My brain began to fry
This is like a movie
I know Im gonna scream
All the pain that I feel
Makes me feel mean
Its so sad and crazy here
I think Im gonna cry
If I dont wake up from this dream
I think Im gonna........die"

I have a cousin who is. His co-workers don't like him because he runs from point to point and it makes them look bad.

I didn't. I had heard of them but didn't know much about the particulars. I never paid much attention to chick bands....especially in the 70's when I was drunk all the time. When I read this I was kind of taken aback and saddened that Sandy West died so young, and so broke and underrated.

glencar Not sure howe often she stays here though. I think she lives out west mostly.

Nah, even Joshy knew who they were.

Dan I know who the Runaways are. I have a tape somewhere in addition to the 2 WBCN broadcasts. A friend of mine knew Sandy and Cherie, I think I might have seen or met Cherie at some point and have seen Joan Jett.

Too young to have seen the Runaways, would have loved to have seen the shows at the Santa Monica Civic they did with The Ramones and Cheap Trick.

Yah--back then, they were actually fucking asked questions about whether or not the prints on their "chick" fingers made playing guitar harder for them than men who play guitar.

Ridiculous.

You didn't pay attention to chick bands? What about Patti?

Brainbell Jangler I went to law school with Runaways bassist Jackie Fox. She lived down the hall from me one year.

Bloozehound chick bands...

the only time a chick should even touch a musical instrument is when she strums her man's skin flute, anything else is a waste of time

Bloozy,
If I were you, I wouldn't bet my balls in a slide guitar contest against Bonnie Raitt.
