Angiegirl You guys are never going to guess where Mark and me are right now!!!! It's 3am here in London, and we are lying on our kingsize hotelbed and we are surfing the web via our tv! Costs only 5 pounds per hour !!!

Anyway, on with the show. We didn't have tix for last night's show, but managed to buy a pair right behind the b-stage. It was a weird show, but good. IT WAS KEEF-NIGHT!! Keith has found the keys to our love . It's been a long time ago since I've seen him play like that. Fantastic.

It started with SFM, or at least we suppose that's what it was, lol. Don't know exactly what happened but it all went wrong. Anyway, first 5 songs were ok, but kind of shaky and sloppy, mucho tempo and timing problems. After let's say LWM/WH it got better, much better. Keith was AWESOME, he ROCKED!!!! Amazing. Ronnie was inaudible for most of the time, or he just didn't do much. Shame.

Loving Cup was good, much better than in Ahoy last month. Except for the ending: Mick thought he ended the song but he was too early and the band played on... very funny anyway. They had the Exile theme for us and Mick introduced the 3rd song from the theme: TD...hmmmm.

We were hoping for Nearness or Thru and Thru but expected another Slipping. We yelled 'Nearness!!!!!!' and he did it, so that's because of Mark and me of course , thanx so much Keef. It was magnificent again, 3rd time, but it was beautiful, we could have gone home after that. So a strange show, but a good show, mainly thanx to our great Keef (well, at least geat this show).

Well, it's time to say goodbye, we're going to see Brian (well, not actually see him, duh), tomorrow or Monday. Talk to you later. And Gazza: see you on Monday before the show we hope!

Cheerz folks,

Angie and Mark from London.

MarthaMyDear Thank you for that great review, Angie!!!
I'm glad you told me that about being able
to access the internet via a TV because next month I might
just have to get a hotel room since I'm seeing Fleetwood Mac
again a great distance from where I live (THIRD ROW!!!
LINDSEY BUCKINGHAM SIDE!!! HE!!! HE!!!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) so I'm
either bringing my laptop or maybe seeing if a place has what
you have, which I think would probably be even more
convenient, possibly!!!
You guys are so lucky getting an Exile night...
lol.......................... I wish I was there but tell
Gary I said HI!!! and your guy, Mark, also, and hotlicks,
ALSO, ok.?!?!?! I guess I'm not doing too bad, myself...
Third row at Fleetwood Mac coming-up, general admission floor
at the Red Hot Chili Peppers, etc.!!! CAN'T COMPLAIN!!!!!!!!
lol................... I hope it lasts!!!
ROTFLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol............
:P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P
Anyways, take care, PEACE, and ROCK ON!!!
ENJOY YOUR TRIP!!!

*** Martha ***

P.S. (And, I got fourth row (Steve Jones side) at the Sex
Pistols at the Greek Theatre recently... Just thought I'd add
that!!! CRACKING-UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know why
but it's interesting to note that the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
AND THE SEX PISTOLS ONLY COST ABOUT $50.00 EACH SHOW FOR
THEIR BEST SEATS *** AND *** FLEETWOOD MAC'S BEST SEATS ARE
ABOUT A *** THIRD *** OF THE PRICE OF THE STONES' BEST
SEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not
complaining!!! lol.................. Just thought I'd add
that little tidbit of info. about ticket prices... CRACKING-
UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a little info., is
all!!! lol................. :P :P :P :P :P ;P ;P :P :P :P
Anyways, TAKE CARE!!!

Gazza managed to find an internetcafe en route to meeting a few friends for lunch downtown so thought I'd drop in as I have a bit of time to kill(no time for e-mails though - that'll have to wait til after I get home on Tuesday)

only got to my hotel about 7pm, so things were a bit rushed, especially as I'd sold my oldpair of tickets and was just looking for a single for myself. Luckily I ran into a guy from New Jersey called Phil who asked me did I want to buy his extra £85 ticket for £50. I was so happy to take it,I gave him £60 and bought him a couple of beers!! Turns out he posts on Shidoobee as Footloose Man, so a small world I guess! Very nice guy too,so if youre reading this,Phil- many thanks! Anyway, the seats were in block 34(Keith's side) and just a few rows up from the stage. Great view and pretty similar to the tickets I'd sold forthe 29/8 Wembley show.

Sound was a bit "boomy" for the first few songs, but from around Keith's set on it was excellent. Strangely enough , where we were the B-stage sound was really good. The crowd were REALLY into it and everyone around us was standing for pretty much the full show. Performance-wise, nothing to complain about, although as the shows are now 19 songs instead of the 21 or so when I saw them a year ago in the US, the "mini album set"is pretty short - in this case, it was3songs from "Exile"(The third time I've seen this one out of the 4 "themed"shows I've been to). Strangely enough, I really enjoyed the last few songs more. "Sympathy" continues to be stunning, "Paint it Black" just gets better ever time and by "Honky Tonk Women" my voice was fucked, even though I was still able to dance like a maniac(well,in my mind anyway. If I saw a video of myself, I'd probably die of embarrassment).

Went down to Camden Market this morning and acquired a couple of CDs which I'm happy to say shall be 'treed' in the next few days (Twickenham and Wembley 1)...just missed the last copy of Astoria,so if anyone has it let me know 'cos I'd really ideally like to tree that whole London "trilogy".

One more show to go for me - Wembley tomorrow night - and then its back to the real world after a whirlwind three weeks of the best series of Stones shows I've ever seen. If anyone knows of a cure for the "post tour blues",let me know 'cos it'll be here within 48 hours...

Gazza, you should try 2 months at Mustique with Lawren, Jerry, Carla, Bianca and/or Lucia
09-14-03 12:54 PM
Angiegirl Yeah, the crowd was good, relatively for London I mean...

Hope tomorrow's show is good too.

We're killing time in an internet cafe before meeting Gazza for dinner in 2 hours, so I really have nothing to say, lol. Tomorrow morning we're taking the A-train, I mean the Cheltenham Spa Express to see Brian's hiding place. Went to take a walk to Edith Grove and Cheyne Walk this afternoon, the weather here is fantastic!! Very sunny and blue skies, who belives that about London ey?

Angie
09-14-03 01:00 PM
Strange_Stray_Cat So, here I am in an internet cafe in London.

Good show last night. Started not that well, cos they fucked up the intro of SFM big time. I think it was because Ronnie wasn't playing and Keith got confused. Ronnie did not play much anyway. He was low in the mix when he was playing and most of the time he was fooling around.

It was Keith night; Keef was on fire! He played entire songs and he played well. Nearness was the high light for me.

Rest of the story is in the hotel-room-post; I'll make a longer review when I get home next Tuesday.

I'm off now, to meet Gazza for dinner.
09-14-03 01:28 PM
MarthaMyDear Did you guys get to see Mick and Jerry's (old) house in
Richmond and The Wick?!?!?! I did!!! HE!!! HE!!! And, Mick

scully It was a very good show IMHO, once the sound got sorted out (around about Wild Horses) The Exile theme was a bit short, but Loving Cup was great. I finally got to hear Nearness of You, which was brilliant. For me the setlist was an interesting comparison with September's MSG show, as that was first of the tour and last night my last.

As others have noted Sympathy is just sounding so powerful every time now, and Keith was really playing last night, incredible. Dice and Mannish Boy were highlights for me too.

Took some friends last night, their first Stones show and they were blown away - always a great thing to see.

The tour's over now for me, so I've got the Blues. Thanks are due to anyone who has posted anything about any of the shows here on Rocks Off, it does make you feel part of every show. Ta.
