guitarman53 That Band could rock the fuck out of people, I still say they were the greatest Rock Band of the 20th Century, I love the Stones, but they don't even come close to the Beatles! if you grew up in '64, you know what I'm talking about.

Lethargy Welcome, Scotfree...

Here's where I discredit myself. I only thing the beatles suck relative to the worshipful state Planet Earth seems to be regarding them. If they weren't regarded as the #1 band on earth, I might feel differently. But obviously, truth be told, I could probably name 100 bands off the top of my head that are worse than the beatles.

It's just that compared to the degree of their legend in general as the #1 band ever - not to mention the universal worship of the utterly terrible Sgt. Pepper as the #1 album ever - they deserve contempt. Sgt. Pepper isn't even in the Top Five beatles albums, let alone the greatest thing ever.

Occasionally - very occasionally - I like listening to some selections from the White Album or Abbey Road. But in general, the single most overrated band in the history of music, any genre, bar none.

One man's opinion.

Egbert I agree that the Beatles suck for the most part - particularly post-Rubber Soul. Revolver has a few good songs but they were already becoming tedious to listen to by then. Abbey Road is just unbearable. The Kinks played a somewhat similar poppy style for a while and to me did it much better.

I've always liked The Night Before though. That sort of rocks I guess.

12th September 2007 03:53 AM
guitarman53 everybody's been going on about this thing about The Beatles& The Rolling Stones, it's been going on since time begin! I think the only people who can express their feelings, are the people who were around in '64, when it all happened, all these late bloomers don't have a fucking clue as to what their fucking talking about, and that is the truth.
12th September 2007 06:11 AM

So you have to be a pensioner to know what rock'nroll is all about........ffs most people who were around in '64 are now dead..

Anyways, two things must be said:
1. this kindergarten-esque "debate" re: stones v beatles is just lame
2. the stones were obviously the better band..

btw, the beatles' version of "rock'n'roll music" rocks in every sense of the word..

MrPleasant "Nod Your Head"

From Macca's latest.

It's about telling a hooker how to give a proper blowjob. I'm not joking.

It's the meanest song from the Beatles. Meanest than anything from Zappa, who, as we know, was always kidding.

This is why Dylan admires Paul. "It takes one to know one, she smiles".

I was there in 64..and even before...Beatles were megastars who made great pop music....Stones grabbed my attention for their edge and blues based rock..They continue to hold my attention today....Not even close?....Think you have your head stuck in a yellow submarine...but hey...thats your opinion...
