Ten Thousand Motels Pirate role for Keith Richards

08jul05
Herald Sun .com

JOHNNY DEPP has finally convinced Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards to play a cameo role in the sequels to Pirates of the Caribbean.

Richards will take the role of Depp's character's father in the sequels, according to reports.
Depp also arranged for special filming sessions beginning in February to work around the band's tour dates.

"It looks like it's going to happen," he said.

Lethargy By the way, rumor has it that the reason it took so long to get Keith to agree to do it was that he was demanding more money than they wanted to pay him.

So much for Mr. "You Can Have The Money, Pal" Richards. Hate to say it, but he's in the end just another hypocritical superstar when it comes to money, saying he's only interested in the art/music but when push comes to shove, it's of course a great deal about the money.
July 9th, 2005 02:23 AM
gypsy Yay! A few of my photo agencies have on-set pics from both of the "Pirate" sequels being shot. I'll check in a couple of months for any of Keith!
I'm thrilled that he's decided to do it. I think it is perfect for him - especially a small cameo. I picture him getting a few witty lines, or adding his own. It'll be great, and yes, Mick will be steamed!

I suppose Keith's just testing the waters. There's a matter of principal at work here...I think Keith just wants a fair price, that's all. Never begrudge the devil his due.

JaggerLips Mick should be in this as well as Sparrow's fathers adversary coming back from the past to seek his revenge on him.

The old Mick Vs Keith thing from the 80s coming back at ya!

Hahaha, let's hijack it and turn it into a Stones flick

But then again, interesting as it might be, Mick might come on with another Freejack-line in the likes of "Oh no, I hate the dark" and there you have it - all mystique lost.

fair price? A reported twenty million dollars for a couple of days work for a guy with no acting pedigree whose inclusion in the film isnt going to make any difference to whether its a hit or not?

The expression "elevated view of his own importance" springs to mind, here...!
July 11th, 2005 10:46 AM
Mel Belli I don't think the $20 million rumor has any basis in reality. Especially not in the middle of this box-office slump.
July 12th, 2005 08:53 PM
Gazza Virgin Radio reported this evening that Keith has said that he will definitely be signing up for this film

Whether this is a new interview/quote from Keith or whether they've just taken it from old news/gossip on a website I'm not sure

wasn't mick's "feature-length film" (they actually called it that, remmember?) called running out of luck?
i know, it doesn't matter.......a calamity of biblical proportions.
July 13th, 2005 09:22 AM
Gazza It was indeed called "Running out of Luck". It actually didnt come out until well over a year after the "Shes The Boss" album was released, ,making its release somewhat pointless

Anyway, back to "Pirates"..

Rocker to play Depp's dad

By SIMON THOMPSON
Sun Online

ROLLING Stones guitarist Keith Richards has been signed up to appear in one of the two Pirates Of The Caribbean sequels.

The ageing rocker will play dad to Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow.

Co-star Bill Nighy said: "I can confirm, Keith Richards will appear in Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 or 3.

"I'm not sure which one, because they are being filmed back to back."

Johnny said Keith was the perfect choice for the role after revealing Captain Jack was based on him.

"You talk about a dream come true, you get to be a pirate with Keith Richards, does it get any better than that?" he added.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2004580002-2005320316,00.html

For those unfamiliar with Bill Nighy, he's a popular British actor who specialises in playing 'posh' roles (he was in "Love Actually", etc)

He recently wrote a piece in the Daily Mail Weekend magazine on the main 'passion' in his life - The Rolling Stones, (" I love the Rolling Stones with all of my mind, body and heart", etc.). If Bill is in POTC as well and gets to work with Keith, I think he'll possibly spontaneously combust.
