Bandmembers of the ROLLING STONES have stopped socialising with each other, according to the group's guitarist KEITH RICHARDS. The axeman, 63, admits the rockers have grown tired of each other's company on a personal level after over 40 years together. Richards says of drummer Charlie Watts, "Sometimes in the evening he passes me in my room and says good evening. "But I wouldn't ever go near his room - he wouldn't tolerate a pig like me. We see each other during rehearsals. "At the moment we spend up to 10 hours a day together. When the tours are finished, we get out of the place."

Who socializes, anyway? Communists?
Is Keith still waiting for Ron to be his drink buddy? I bet he isn't. The Rolling Stones don't socialize.

I have posted for years that there is no social interaction and that each act is "staged"....looks like I was right again. |

This was hardly a state secret ... In that pre-Licks interview with Matt Lauer, Mick and Keith said they fax each other ... while they're in the damn hotel.
Where I part with you (and the long-absent jb) is that this means they all hate each other. |

ContactMusic gets everything screwed up. They take things out of context
and print it as facts. The band may not socialize constantly but they are all
friends. When they are not touring of course they go home to be with their
other friends and families, why not? They remain in contact and talk when
they want to and do not hate each other. Maybe I am misreading this, not
sure but they have always been good friends and have their own lives outside
the band which makes sense. |

10 hours a day? No wonder they get sick of the sight of each other. They love each other really. Keith is just being Keith, trying to create something out of nothing. As if Charlie would want to hang around with Keith for any length of time, he's a bad influence! Can you imagine Charlie going on a mad drunken binge with Keith? Keith needs a drinking partner and he ain't going to get one with his 3 other brothers in arms, Charlie, Ronnie and Mick.
Maybe Keith best advertise in the local newspaper for a drinking partner? |

That's the part that got me. I know Contactmusic isn't the most reliable source for anything, but that's a nasty little quote right there. |

except for the very early hungry days and then the drug-fueled commune-living of the late 60s...did the stones ever really socialize?

Nope. As Keith himself said, they lived, split up, "all over the world" after they left Nellcote in '71. |

The article could be from 1979-80, nothing new under the sun. |

Yes me I thought of the idea! I love Jack Daniels and coke! Rum and coke doesn't go amiss neither. |

Maybe they socialise all the time on non-touring days, but Keef just doesn't remember it... |
