I'm going to have to think about this....maybe indulge in serious meditation.
Two of the top 5 rock n roll albums ever recorded....no doubt in my mind about that. But which one is better????? I say Sticky Fingers but I might change my mind.

egon Sticky is for when you explain to other people
why the stones are the greatest R&R band in the world.

exile is for when you want to remind yourself.

Did you come up with that yourself? Well it's the first time I've read that. That's a great thought. Might co-opt it for a signature.

I used Sticky on my ex-boss on a road trip about 8 years ago.

Jumping Jack Sticky Fingers

BS better than RO
Bitch better than ADTL
Wild Horses better than Sweet Virginia
CYHMK better than anything else on any album
Dead Flowers better than Loving Cup
Sister Morphine better than Ventilator Blues

Do you own match ups. The fact that the Stones have performed song on Sticky Fingers live tells you they think it is better as well. The fact that Mick wants to remix Exile tells you he thinks it is not yet perfect. I know some think this is heresy, but SF rules!!!

Well then, Thanks. Maybe I'll by-pass using that for a signature. LOL. That belongs on someones, maybe mine's, tombstone.

the good Its taken me a long time to reach this point, but I am now of the opinion that Exile is the better record. I never would have said that a couple of years ago, but recently a few of the songs on the record have really grown on me, Let It Loose in particular. I cannot think of anything on Sticky that that song can be compared to, because it is in a league of its own. Its the Rolling Stones at their absolute best on their greatest record.

GotToRollMe Sticky Fingers, without a doubt, as well as Let It Bleed and Beggars Banquet.
10th June 2006 11:16 AM
lotsajizz better? depends on the day/need/mood...more often than not I probably say SF

Madafaka Is like that stupid question: Which one do you love more? Your dad or your mom?
EOMS, SF, LIB, BB are all excellent albums!
10th June 2006 12:00 PM
Nellcote Madfaka makes a valid point, however, if a pit bull was staring at my leg for lunch, Exile wins!

MrPleasant Fingers.

corgi37 SF is the celebration of the high life.

Exile is the circumstances.

Both are important.

Soldatti Sticky Fingers.

keefjunkie Reign In Blood
10th June 2006 05:10 PM
Ronnie Richards Sticky Fingers is one of the greatest rock'n'roll albums of all time.
Yet, Exile is miles better.
10th June 2006 05:21 PM
Gazza Exile is better for one significant reason

It has 18 great songs, whereas Sticky Fingers has only ten.

I happen to prefer Sweet Virginia to Wild Horses...
Also - Dead Flowers should be put up against Sweet Virginia (as they are both Parsons' songs)
Shine A Light crushes I Got The Blues....
And then what about Tumbling Dice????
...what about Casino Boogie?
...Let It Loose?
...Happy????
...Soul Survivor?
I Just Wanna See His Face achieves in 2 minutes what Sister Morhpine needs 5 or 6 for...

Exile without a doubt
11th June 2006 10:05 AM
glencar Exile, easily.
11th June 2006 11:21 AM
MrPleasant OK: Fingers won because I said so.

No. Quality wins over quantity by a mile. Sticky wins in a landslide.

pdog If my house was on fire, I get the kids and wife and Exile On Main St. let the rest burn!

It does when it means you have to deal with mediocrity, but not when both albums are of equally brilliant consistency.

star star in the spirit of Egon's quote (and just rewording it!) Sticky is the album you play preparing your night of booze and weed, and Exile is the album you play during the high and coming down, as it plays out like an ode to that kind of life!

Now, see, this is funny, because in terms of match ups, with the possible exception of the first comparison I disagree with you on every count!

Crazy, huh?

And since when has anybody ever trusted anything Mick Jagger has said about the Rolling Stones? Mr. Large Gatherings? Mr. First Four Albums Are No Good? Mr. My Favorite Song on Bigger Bang Is Streets of Love? Have you heard how many toothless losers he's inspired? Just ask Moonie!

A good way to gauge the proper answer to a Stones opinion poll is to listen to Jagger's opinion and go with the exact opposite!

Exile on Main Street! WOO!

12th June 2006 09:24 AM
Maxlugar Sticky Fingers for me.

the fact that on this tour Mick introduced/apologised for playing "Sway" by describing it as an 'obscure' song speaks volumes. An obscurity? From 'Sticky Fingers'?

Nasty Habits Hey, Max - you should post a link to the Couch thread on this very same topic over here - that's just about the greatest on-topic Couch thread of all time.
