You know what? I have always been facinated with the nameless people in rock movies. I would love to be able to track some of them down and ask them questions. Its a thought that has been bugging me for years. Here is a list of some people i would like to know: 1. How their life turned out. 2. what was their feelings on the event of which, i at least, feel they are forever immortalised.
Gimme Shelter:
1. The fat naked guy. Just to ask: "why".
2. The dude who hit Jagger. Same question as above.
3. The blonde girl seen crying in front of the stage in the final 15 minutes of the movie.
4. The dickhead who wouldnt leave the backstage area.
5. The chick who is shown about 5 times. You can see her when everything is "groovy" and people start blowing bubbles. She wears a thick green jacket. As twilight hits, you see her again.
6. The freaking out black guy who is dancing wildy, and the film is speeded up to accentuate it.
Stones in the Park
1. The hideous looking teen who tried to touch Jagger while he sat during "sympathy".
2. The boss guy of the drummers in the grass skirts
3. The person who received the apple from Charlie prior to the show.
4. The old bird with the blackboard.
To finish, i'd just love to know who the fuck the moustached guy is from the "Goin to a go-go" clip is. He looked like such a dude.
What about some others? Any ideas? |

Just watched that movie the other night, just so incredible.
7. That Angel who is staring at Mick with complete contempt. I assume the guy is dead, which is probably not a bad thing.
8. That woman handing out pro-Black Panther flyers. "Financially, economically..."
9. That half naked women doing absolutely extraordinary things with her breasts.
Greatest part of that movie to me is when Mick and Keith are bopping around the hotel room to Brown Sugar, and Mick does that chango-chicken walk with a big ass smile on his face. I assume that was shot right after they got done at Muscle Shoals and they are just fired up on life knowing they can let Brown Sugar loose on the world any time they want. Friggin' awesome! |

the Brown Sugar scene is excellent...
it is haunting watching Mick watch the reels...
the MSG live stuff is awesome (JJF, Satisfaction)...
it's too bad that SFM is talked-over and edited - that version shreds...
when are the Maysles gonna share the audio reels..?

I love the quote about everybody always freaking out during Sympathy. They stop it midstream @ Altamont - all except for Keith, who keeps playing, back-turned and oblivious. A Mick Jagger big-brother moment ensues, almost as endearing as "We're not in New York, Keith" as said during the a 75 show at the Los Angeles Forum...
Prodigal Son is wonderful to watch in it's entirety (Criterion extra)...
the movie also shows that Alan Coulter definitely is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Contrast him with Hagrid's doppelganger, the guy who ran Zeppelin's tours (manager?)...

Have you read Mick Jagger by J Marks? It's written in rather a wanky way, but he alludes to some knowledge of the guy who hit Jagger at Altamont. Calling him Dominique, and claiming he had this love/hate thing for Jagger, and that it had something to do with Dominique's best friend who was a Stones freak, but died young.....Apparently he'd been following the tour all alone and was waiting to hurt Jagger for sometime. Who knows?

Was Jerry not one of the HTW in LSTNT? If so it's probably an obvious statement, if not, I'm an idiot.
But yes Sir Monnie, that Dancing to Brown Sugar in the Hotel is high times. Kinda the same as in Cocksucker Blues when they listen to Happy. It's so cool, for some reason, to see them saying "yes we dig our own tunes". I don't know why it is so cool, but it is.

more simple than that,Steelie. The Dead ended up not performing at all as far as I remember because of the horrible atmosphere
