Going with the "one album per band" rule:
Stones "Exile On Main Street"
Stooges "Fun House"
Clash s/t (UK)
Congos "Heart Of The Congo"
Television "Marquee Moon"
New York Dolls s/t
Neil Young "After The Gold Rush"
Rod Stewart "Every Picture Tells A Story"
Pere Ubu "The Modern Dance"
Modern Lovers s/t
Tough decade to pick just 10 from...

I think we exclude The Stones, from the list. They're a given.
We should also exclude all Zep b/c they suck!
List to follow soon! |

Yes it is a silly rule. I was trying to stay consistent with our other "Top 10" threads. Too many good albums released in the '70s to pick only 10. I'll start off with a Top 25 no limit on releases per artist:
Stones: Ya Yas, SF, Exile, GHS, Some Girls
Clash: Clash (UK), London Calling
Stooges: Fun House, Raw Power
Modern Lovers s/t
Congos: Heart Of The Congo
Neil Young: After The Gold Rush, Tonight's The Night
Rod Stewart: Every Picture...
Bob Marley & Wailers: Catch A Fire
New York Dolls s/t
Television: Marquee Moon
Pere Ubu: The Modern Dance
Bob Dylan: Blood On The Tracks
Can: Future Days
Toots & The Maytals: Funky Kingston
Santana: Abraxas
Pil: Second Edition (I had this on my '80s list but it was released in '79)
Ramones s/t
Van Morrison: Moondance

You people are crazy if you think GHS is one of the top ten albums of the 70's. It barely in the top ten of the Stones. |

I didn't say your crazy to like it, but do you really regard it as one of the top ten albums from the 70's? |

I didn't list any Stones albums in any of the top lists for any decade. Stones are my favorite band, so much so, and this being a Stones board, I thought it was a waste to put any of their records on a list.
To answer your question, I like GHS, like I like Black & Blue and ER... which are just behind Tattoo You, but better than Undercover. Exile being my favorite, then Some Girls, followed by the remaining three of the BIG 4. Then the older stuff, including Satanic, which I like more than Dirty Work. Aftermath would be a fvorite of mine equal to Voodoo, I'd have to put Voodoo right before Satanic, which I also like more than A Bigger Bang but not Steel Wheels, that's the album right after Dirty Work chronoligically speaking, but not better than Aftermath. Between The Buttons comes after Aftermath, LOL! I made a funny!
So yeah, I like GHS... Top ten, you do the math. Who fucking cares anyway... Lists and ratings, that's for people who listen to music but don't hear it. Starfucker is on GHS... What's not to like? |
