Nanky, she's a dead legend.
I don't know why you still haven't come to terms with her death yet. |

I seem to recall reading somewhere that she's written about 2000 songs. I'm pretty sure D-I-V-O-R-C-E that Tammy Wynett did was a Dolly song. She wrote that Whitney Houston song too but I'll be damned if I can remember the name of it. Anyway she ain't no dumb blonde.

Here You Come Again
Here you come again
Just when I've begun to get myself together
You waltz right in the door
Just like you've done before
And wrap my heart 'round your little finger
Here you come again
Just when I'm about to make it work without you
You look into my eyes
And lie those pretty lies
And pretty soon I'm wonderin' how I came to doubt you
All you have to do is smile that smile
And there go all my defenses
Just leave it up to you and in a little while
You're messin' up my mind and fillin' up my senses
Here you come again
Lookin' better than a body has a right to
And shakin' me up so that all I really know
Is here you come again ...
And here I go
[break]
All you have to do is smile that smile
And there go all my defenses
Just leave it up to you and in a little while
You're messin' up my mind and fillin' up my senses
Here you come again
Lookin' better than a body has a right to
And shakin' me up so that all I really know
Is here you come again ...
And here I go (here you come again)
Here I go
Here I go (here you come again)
And here I go
Here I go (here you come again)
Here I go
Here I go (here you come again)
Here I go

Stuck on you
I've got this feeling down deep in my soul that I just can't lose
Guess I'm on my way
Needed a friend
And the way I feel now I guess I'll be with you 'til the end
Guess I'm on my way
Mighty glad you stayed
I'm stuck on you
Been a fool too long I guess it's time for me to come on home
Guess I'm on my way
So hard to see
That a woman like you could wait around for a man like me
Guess I'm on my way
Mighty glad you stayed
Oh, I'm leaving on that midnight train tomorrow
And I know just where I'm going
I've packed up my troubles and I've thrown them all away
'Cause this time little darling
I'm coming home to stay
I'm stuck on you
I've got this feeling down deep in my soul that I just can't lose
Guess I'm on my way
Needed a friend
And the way I feel now I guess I'll be with you 'til the end
Guess I'm on my way
I'm mighty glad you stayed

I dunno. Dolly is a good girl. She does deserves a certain level of respect. I mean I'm not a great fan but 2000 songs is a lot. She may play the whore but she's a lady. I think. I don't know for sure because I'm not a curtain puller on the Grand Stage. |

I Will Always Love you. Dont worry, TTM - I haven't become a pink oboe player or anything, just helping you out with the title of that Dolly-penned Whitney hit.
I dont think she wrote D.I.V.O.R.C.E. although I'm not 100% sure. Theres a great song on that new Johnny Cash boxed set called "I'm A Drifter" which is one of hers. Just cant imagine her singin' those lyrics, which I guess says something about her ability as a writer. Cash's version is breathtaking.
