pdog I heard it on various recordings from No Security, I wasn't impressed. It may have gone over better if I had been there...

Break The Spell Loved it on that tour along with Sister Morphine. Wish they'd bring it out now and again. Sometimes when they uncover gems such as these, they forget them again once the tour is over.

I know, I was speaking of how certain songs are uncovered on different tours like those two, and then are once again not played live once the respected tour is over. Also like CYHMK on Licks.

Saint Sway Rich Robinson does a great version of Moonlight Mile. Hopefully he'll dust it off and play it again on these upcoming acoustic shows with his brother Chris.

MOONLIGHT MILE LIVE DEBUT Oakland Arena January 25, 1999

Soldatti I like that version. Thanks Gerardo.

Bitch thanks man

Always loved this song,it's sweet. A romantic song from the drug era, head full of snow.

My interp: the moonlight connects one part of the world with another so no matter how far apart 2 people are, its a moonlight mile connecting them and they're not that far apart.

Break The Spell Thanks for the link, great live version. I wish their melodic songs were more like this one and Laugh, I nearly Died. Great lyrics to go with the dark, melancholic lyrics.

Good interpretation! Reminds me of a GREAT Tom Waits song from Swordfishtrombone, "Shore Leave" -

"and I wondered how the same moon outside
over this Chinatown fair
could look down on Illinois
and find you there"

Although in that instance the moon is making the distance seem longer.

Moonlight Mile has always been one of my all-time favorite Stones songs, even if Keith isn't on it. I saw the Stones do it in Chicago in 1999, and although I didn't think they NAILED it, exactly, (actually not even CLOSE)I still loved it. When a band pushes themselves and tries to play something they can't do in their sleep, that's when the REAL stuff happens. In other words, in the case of Our Heroes, next to never.

Shore Leave

Well with buck shot eyes and a purple heart
I rolled down the national stroll
and with a big fat paycheck
strapped to my hip sack
and a shore leave wristwatch underneath
my sleeve
in a Hong Kong drizzle on Cuban heels
I rowed down the gutter to the Blood Bank
and I'd left all my papers on the Ticonderoga
and was in a bad need of a shave
and so I slopped at the corner on cold chow mein
and shot billards with a midget
until the rain stopped
and I bought a long sleeved shirt
with horses on the front
and some gum and a lighter and a knife
and a new deck of cards (with girls on the back)
and I sat down and wrote a letter to my wife

and I said Baby, I'm so far away from home
and I miss my Baby so
I can't make it by myself
I love you so

Well I was pacing myself
trying to make it all last
squeezing all the life
out of a lousy two day pass
and I had a cold one at the Dragon
with some Filipino floor show
and talked baseball with a lieutenant
over a Singapore sling
and I wondered how the same moon outside
over this Chinatown fair
could look down on Illinois
and find you there
and you know I love you Baby

and I'm so far away from home
and I miss my Baby so
I can't make it by myself
I love you so

Shore Leave...
Shore Leave...

It's the lovable Bob Ross!! We got to watch him in art class back in school and try to reproduce what he had just painted. My works, however, looked more like something Bob Ross would paint on acid. His 'fro was better than Chuck's back in the day for sure.

FPM C10 Yes, it's Bob Ross.

It's part of my new program of accentuating the positive (happy little trees, puffy clouds) and eliminating the negative (which shall remain faceless and nameless.)

On the positive side, I'm going to see Dr. Ralph Stanley tonight.

Break The Spell Yes, happy in a very dememnted, psychotic kind of way. I like it!! Let the uplifting begin...

Yes. For instance, I am insanely happy with you - a situation we are able to sustain partially through NOT having cable TV and ignoring the deplorable political situation at home and abroad, as well as listening to music that was recorded decades ago.

Happy trees! Puffy clouds! Shrubs cut off at ground level!
