full moon WORD!!
December 30th, 2005 11:32 PM
glencar Their (or Ferry solo?) version of Jealous Guy is better than the original!
December 30th, 2005 11:50 PM
VoodooChileInWOnderl Brian and Mick have a thing in common

Both made it with Jerry
December 31st, 2005 12:24 AM

December 31st, 2005 12:30 AM
glencar LOL Predictable.
December 31st, 2005 01:32 AM

lotsajizz Roxy Music was innovative, intelligent, exciting, and they had the best album covers in history!
December 31st, 2005 09:34 AM
corgi37 Oh, you have got to be fucking kidding!
December 31st, 2005 10:55 AM
lotsajizz you ever see the cover for 'Country Life' for example? first to show pubic hair on album cover...you might not like their music, but they always had the taste for the hot model-types
December 31st, 2005 09:10 PM
texile too lounge-lizardy...
and those jerry hall covers were an instant repellent.
January 1st, 2006 05:53 AM
Lord Homosex "too lounge lizardy" is a criticism that is easily thrown at them by epople who don't know them well enough. Since Ferry solo is almost bigger than the band and his shtick is that lounge-thing that is really tired he has actually really hurt his own band. Even the more popular Side 2 of "Manifesto" is way too camp and limp.
But those first few rockalbums whne they were a BAND especially the first two with Eno are incredible!!!
"Do the Strandsky!"

corgi37 I cant knock their covers at all.
January 1st, 2006 01:34 PM
mac_daddy how can you not appreciate eno..?

and if i remember correctly, mick stole jerry away from bryan ferry...

and for the record, duran duran ripped off japan, not roxy music (they just stole their look from roxy music; musically, they basically just ripped off the japan albums "quiet life" and "gentlemen take polaroids"; john taylor has always had mick karn envy, and rightfully so - the d00d is one of the most original sounding bass players around)

My Only Love

Voodoo Scrounge I like Roxy Music too.

Slave to love is a good song and they were one of the best progressive bands around.

I dont quite think that their version of Jealous Guy is better than Lennons, but they are probably one of the only bands who could cover a lennon song and not ruin it.

Joey

Brian Ferry closely resembles FPM ! Word .
January 3rd, 2006 12:52 PM

progressive?
January 3rd, 2006 01:57 PM
texile can't get it up for a band that spawned a generation of duran durans and kagagoogoo....
IMO, ferry's solo output was superior...
slave to love, more than this -
that whole bete noir vibe was cool...

January 3rd, 2006 02:03 PM
lotsajizz 'More Than This' is Roxy Music, not solo Ferry. "Bete Noir" is one of Ferry's weaker solo albums...check out the very early or very new stuff, more rockin'

Ferry solo sorely misses Manzanera and Mackay

OK...you're wrong. Roxy Music did NOT play Live Aid. Solo Ferry did. If Manzanera and Mackay aren't there, it's not called Roxy Music.
