Perks, never did for the Stones. In '72 & '75, had a client who was a promoter, scored thru him, after not getting picked in the lottery. All of the other Stones times via Ticketron/Ticketmaster. Used to wait in line @ Ticketmaster, in fact, did that for movie screening of Ladies & Gentlemen in '74. Was at a Sears, the line went up this staircase, in Natick MA. Ran out of the store yelling at all of the blue haired grandmas, waving hankies in the air...Did sleep out for the Faces in '75, the winter tour. Was 1st in line. Was a wicked pissah night in Providence RI. Got tanked all night, took turns running for coffee, fell asleep, woke up with hundreds of people staring us down. Got front row, which was the goal. Just the best...
Good thread, wish it was that way all over again, do it in a minute... |

I'm old fashioned, I just sleep with people for tickets.
Shitty bands, awful seats, bad sex... who cares?

Yes in 89 and in 94, and in 97.
Ahhh, those days are gone really now.
In 89 we slept outside of Sears. that was an event in itself!
Wow. In the festivities my buddy actually got on the roof of Sears and was throwing a beach-ball to us and all over and it was damn high.. We still do not know how he got up there.
Then we drove through the parking lot shooting bottle rockets off out of the car. Car was full of smoke. there was a real big line and everyone was up for the Stones and whatever happend.
Then we went through Sears Automotive Center out front and drove over all the cones in the parking lot for people doing their liscense tests. We did that on three seperate occasions and got out of there before we were detected the first two times. The last attempt had the workers at Sears and the Liscense place there waiting for us this time and they chased the car because we did it anyway right in front of them. Cops finally got to us, but let us go.
What a night it was. In 94 it was great as well. Another story all together. In 97 we tamed it down (we were a bit older by then).

We did it for the 1994 show in Chicago as the Rose Records in Orland Park did not do the traditional ticket lottery. We arrived around 9pm the night before and were 6th in line and ended up getting 12 tickets in the first side section 5th row from Soldier Field.
I know my father slept outside in '69 and '72 to get tickets and got in quite a bit of trouble with his parents as he and his brother had to sneak out to do this (my father was born in 1955 and sleeping outside in a not so great part of Chicago was probably not in his best interests) |

I have Exile, IORR, GHS on 8 track, as well as More Hot Rocks. Non Stones, Skynyrd, Thick as a Brick, Several Hendrix, some Doors, Deep Purple. Admittedly, I bought more blank 8track, recorded lps & shows to them.
Still have that Panasonic plunger player, looks like a dynamite box, as well as Panasonic 8 track stereo with "Thruster" speakers.
Mind you, I'm not using the 8 tracks daily, however, they get a pass thru now & then. I have many off radio recordings of King Biscuit Flower Hour, which as you recall, was the rage in the day. |
