A city official said Thursday that Moncton lost money on the Rolling Stones concert in September, though he doesn't know how much yet.
Ian Fowler said Moncton is still getting invoices and negotiating payments. He said that when the city calculates the final cost of the concert, the figures will be released.

"It's going to be a number I believe any city would've been pleased to contribute," he said.
Fowler said the city spent a lot of money on security, fencing, and bringing water to the site.
It created more than 20,000 parking spaces, but only 7,000 paying drivers brought their cars.
Even so, Ben Champoux, the city's economic development specialist, said the spin-offs were fantastic.
"In terms of hard cash spent in our region over the Rolling Stones concert, your talking about an influx of about $15.3-million," he said.
Champoux said the concert proved that a small Maritime city could pull off a major event.
The site now has the infrastructure for future concerts, which will make running a deficit on the Stones show pay off in the long run, he said. |

I attended the Moncton show. The city and area were wonderful. I'm happy to be in Florida, since it is December, but we had a great time in Moncton. |

It sounds like they made money overall. And I'm sure parking/speeding tix revenue added up to a nice chunk of change. |
