Poplar
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - San Francisco authorities will be at the
Rolling Stones concert tonight, but not for the music.
They'll be measuring how loud they get.
Officials were flooded with complaints from nearby residents
after the Stones' show at S-B-C Park on Sunday. Neighbors
complained of windows and floors vibrating.
One man who complained said, "just because they're too old to
hear their music doesn't mean their music has to be so loud."
The executive director of San Francisco's Entertainment
Commission says his phone started ringing as soon as the Stones
began playing.
Bob Davis says the city will monitor whether stadium officials
are obeying noise laws. Officials from the Giants baseball team,
which owns S-B-C Park, say they will try to reduce the noise level.

SheRat What'd I tell ya? The town's got sticks up their asses. A lot of yuppies in that neighborhood now, too--alot more than the Licks tour.

I'd be surprised if some of those calls weren't from the dorks we were sitting near at the show.

We really need to reserve sections for RO'ers and shit, so we can all sit by each other and not have to suffer fools while watching the Rolling Fucking Stones.

we were walking around the area quite a bit from 6:00 on.
I kept telling Vick: "man, there's some money over here."
not your typical baseball stadium neighborhood.

we rock like drunken fools in Fresno.

I think the word Yuppie is now kind of old fashioned. From my time there SFO is beautiful and the weather is nice, so of course people with money would want to live there. Instead of avoiding them you should try and show them what they're missing. Wouldn't it be fun to seduce a 'yuppie' over to the 'dark side'?

....because Metallica had been so quiet proir to the Stones coming on?

monkey_man Most of the complaints weren't coming from the immediate neighborhood. . .I read that a lot of the complaints were coming from the Potrero, Bernal and Noe Valley! There must have been some weird echo because the PA was facing downtown (away from these neighborhoods). I don't know what their problem was, the show ended at 10:45pm and 11pm last night. Fucking whiners!

Dude, I don't need advice from you about my use of colloquialisms or what this city is like. I actually get paid to write. You don't. Additionally, I've lived here ten years; you, clearly, "visited." It is a testimony to your ignorance and arrogance that you deign to attempt to tell me about the place I live or what to do.

BTW: secuding yuppies to the dark side for someone like me is such easy sport it's no sport at all.

Okay, so last night, it was weird--Metallica was louder than the RS. However, I could totally hear every song--but it definitely seemed like they turned down the later it got. Did it seem like that to you guys?
November 16th, 2005 01:38 PM
monkey_man I didn't hear any difference in the volume between the bands last night. Maybe they turned the volume down on the upper speakers? I was behind the stage for Metallica's set on Sun and couldn't hear how loud they were then.
How was your mans set at the Fillmore last night? Social D?
November 16th, 2005 01:39 PM
Joey " I actually get paid to write. "

Really ?!?!?!

Er , I need to talk to you about someting called , " New Material " .

I didn't get to go! [insert sad emoticon here.] When he got there and tried to list me, they told him he didn't have a list. Even though he has email from the booker saying they got one guest per person and two drink tix. The show was sold out, so that was that.

So that was lame--which is why I was drinking beer in my office at home hearing the RS from the park...

I'm not telling you about the place you live. What I said was:
"From my time there SFO is beautiful and the weather is nice, so of course people with money would want to live there"
that doesn't imply I know doodly squat about SF. All I know is that the hookers 10 years ago that walked the streets around the hotel I was at near Union Square were HOT! and that I could fall asleep in Golden Gate Park and not get rolled. Oh, also that I could beat some of the chess hustlers on Market St,near Powell and the oranges sold by street vendors were better than any other orange I've ever tasted and that aside from The Castro I hardly noticed any gays and that some bar on Columbus down from City Lights bookstore had Caruso Opera arias and Sinatra songs on their jukebox and that drinking a 40 oz budweiser while sitting on Pacific Beach is a cool way to pass a cloudy morning.

Yuppie IS an outdated word. Just like hippie, yippie, mod and rocker. Classifying someone as a yuppie is not an original way to slam someone anymore.

As usual, you:

1) Take a superior pretentious tone. When you are called on it, you backpedal and start talking about what a "man of the people" loser you are--drinking 40s, being afriad of getting rolled in GGP, etc.

2) Completely miss the point. I *said* I don't give a shit what you think about the colloquialisms I use. However, since you want to get into it: First, ALL the terms you mentioned are actively used in my circles. I'm sorry that you're a boring suburban drunk and don't know any mods, rockers, hippies or yippies. Second, "yuppie" is a term that is recognizable to the international audience here at RO. Would Gazza or Voodoo or even LadyJane know what I mean if I said "Marina chicks" or "morons from Walnut Creek?" Would you? No. The term yuppie is one that everyone the world over will be able to conjure an image of the type of person to which I referred. I know, I know, you're too solipsistic to take into account the idea that you're writing in order to communicate with other people (as opposed to "jerking off") and should therefore take the time to make sure you are understood. Third, I was using the term primarily as a descriptive one--any derisive implications are secondary--but if someone wants to take insult, whatever. Only someone who was one would get their panties in a wad about it anyways.

WOW! That's a substantial vein you've opened. I see you refrained from name calling which is nice, kind of touching really. I am amazed that such an accomplished poster as you could even get her feathers ruffled enough to notice that I had taken a 'a superior pretentious tone'. This is also the second time you have called me solipsistic so you must be afraid that I might invent a universe without you in it. I also cherish the notion that there are people such as yourself, who inhabit such a variegated and kaleidoscopic cultural milieu that the rich tapestry of your life makes my life look like a piece of old lime green shag. Anyway, it's all a bit of fun.

cheers!

Oh! So I see the superior pretentious tone is back! Taking refuge in the old "I don't know why your feathers are ruffled" saw, are you? Seriously, that's all you can come up with?

Get a new act.

As usual, you:

1) get called on your shit and take refuge in one of two personas: superior and pretentious, or dumbass loser.

2) Completely miss the point.

What were you doing in this thread anyways? You obviously wanted to pick a fight with me. Now you got it, and you're walking away? You're a freaking pussy, man.

But then, we all knew that already.
