UK's most 'eligible' men and women
(Filed: 10/11/2004)
A pro-hunt campaigner who stormed the House of Commons and heckled MPs has been named as one of the UK's "most datable men".
Huntsman: Otis Ferry is number two
Otis Ferry, 21, son of Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry, was unknown before September 15 this year, when he and a group of activists were involved in a brawl on the floor of the Commons.
Mr Ferry, master of a hunt in south Shropshire, has now been named by Tatler magazine as the second most eligible man in the country.
Tatler describes him as the "public figure who scares Tony Blair to death" and the only man considered more fanciable is actor Hugh Grant.
Mr Ferry's fellow hunt protester, Luke Tomlinson, a friend of Prince William and Prince Harry, is seventh on the list, which Tatler says marks the return of the "cool toff".
Sol Campbell, the Arsenal and England defender who is Britain's highest-paid footballer earning £100,000 a week, also makes the top 10. Campbell has previously been linked with millionairess interior designer Kelly Hoppen.
Boy-band star Charlie Simpson, from chart-toppers Busted, is another in the men's top 10. Educated at public school Uppingham, his band recently stated their admiration for Conservative leader Michael Howard.
Also in the men's top ten were Viscount Weymouth, The Marquess of Hartlington, chocolate heir Joel Cadbury, and Hugh Dancy, the actor.
Posh women head the list of eligible females.
Heiress: Jemima Khan tops the ladies list
Heiress Jemima Khan, currently dating Hugh Grant, is named "most datable", with actress Isabella Calthorpe, who has been linked to Prince William, second.
They are joined in the book by a number of aristocrats, but controversial artist Tracey Emin, and model Elizabeth Jagger, daughter of Rolling Stones rocker Mick, also make the top 10.
Other women in the top ten include Lady Alexandra Gordon Lennox, The Hon Sophia Hesketh and Lady Alexandra Spencer-Churchill.
Tatler has also released versions of its list for gay and older singles, in the over 60s Little Silver Book and the Little Pink Book.
