The Rolling Stones want more royalty payments from their former record label Decca, the High Court heard yesterday.
It follows the success of their 40 Licks 40th anniversary album featuring tracks from the Sixties, which Decca still owns.
Yesterday Richard Meade, representing the Stones, said that 'artists are not happy with "trust me's" from record labels'.
He told Mr Justice Pumfrey that the Stones want to view Decca accounts. It is crucial that a band should be able to independently audit a record company.
According to legal papers, the Stones should get a four-fifths cut of what Decca tracks on the 40 Licks album make.
The total value of the tracks was not revealed.
Robert Howe, representing Decca, which was the Stones record label from 1963 until 1971,described the action by the Stones as simply a fishing exercise.
The case continues.
