A HARD DAY'S KNIGHT FOR ROD
Oct 28 2003
Rocker asks: Why give me grief over girls and not Macca
By Anthony Barnes
ROD Stewart says he gets more stick over his love affair with a younger woman than Sir Paul McCartney because theex-Beatle has a knighthood.
Rod reckons Macca is taken more seriously because he has been honoured by the Queen.
The rock legend also said his pal Sir Elton John should lose weight and had a playful pop at the music world's po-faced ``Mr Serious'', Sting.
Rod, 58, who is dating model Penny Lancaster, 32, said: ``I'm not upset by what people say, except when it's personal.
``What p****s me off is they never have a go at Paul McCartney for marrying a younger woman. He's 60 and Heather is 34 but they kill me because of Penny.
``Perhaps it's because he has a knighthood, a wonderful little honour to be bestowed on one.
``Sharon (Stewart's pet name for Sir Elton) has one. She doesn't invite me to any of her dos, the miserable bugger.
``Perhaps she doesn't want competition. My hair is nice and real and looks it and hers doesn't.
``No, I take that back. He looks good at the moment but he could lose a bit of timber.
``I don't know why I haven't got an honour. I do my bit for charity.
``Maybe it will come along the OBE: Ordered Out Of the British Empire.''
Asked whether he felt it was because he became a tax exile, leaving the UK for California in 1975, he replied: ``Mick Jagger has been one longer than me.
``I'd love to have an honour and before I'm the wrong side of the grass I'd like to win a Grammy to put on the mantlepiece for the kids.''
He said it was ``astounding'' he had never won one of the prized US awards.
Rod said: ``They tend not to give it to the British unless you are Sting.
``The sun shines out of his a** e, a pure jazz musician, Mr Serious who helps the Indians.''
Rod, whose songs form the basis of a new West End musical, Tonight's The Night, also said he was a ``silly b **** r'' for marrying Rachel Hunter.
The model left him in 1999, which he described as ``a smack in the head''.
Stewart also revealed the sexual liaison with an older woman that inspired one of his best known hits, Maggie May, ``lasted all of five seconds''.
``A big-time failure. And I haven't got much better, although I'm adequate, '' he added.
ON PENNY
It upsets me when people are personal. Macca is 60 and Heather is 34 but they still kill me because of Penny
ON MACCA
It annoys me they don't have a go at McCartney for marrying a younger woman perhaps it's because he's a knight
ON STING
They tend not to give Grammys to the British unless you're Sting. A jazz musician, Mr Serious who helps the Indians |

There was a time when Rod got press for his good albums and great live shows.
Rod is over. Anyone who doesn't beleive me just re-read the article.
Boo-hoo Rod. You have such a hard life. Let me help ya out, pal. Yeah, the press is harsh. Fuck you. Try walking a mile in my shoes you filthy rich asshole. I wish my biggest problem in life was that I take hot women to bed and the whole world knew about it.
Fuck you Rod, I'm done with you and your crap.
Asshole. |

Although I don't necessarily express the same attitude, I do feel that Rod is acting like a "snooty" person.
Is it just something to get people to buy his new "Vegas" album? Damn, he doesn't rock anymore...not for a loooooooooooooooooooong time. |

I still contend that the downfall of modern music began with Atlantic Crossing in 1975. This article ain't helping Rod's case any. "I'm so depressed... puh-leeeaze gimme a knighthood..."
Damn you Rod Stewart. How could you, a man with a voice like no other, who could do songs like "Around The Plynth" and "Gasoline Alley" within *seconds* of each other possibly sink so low?

Rod, mate, sober off the juice before you do an interview!
There's a lot of Rod's rock music I enjoy, but come on, I think he should get an award for the most inane variations of the same Greatest Hits. |
