Topic: Stones without Jimmy Miller would be great? Return to archive
October 28th, 2004 02:09 PM
Jair Some days ago we talked about the Jimmy Miller death. Now I'm wondering if without him the Stones could be considered the best rock & roll band in the world.

Well, im my opinion, absolutely no.

Without the records produced by Jimmy, what do we got?
Aftermath, IORR, Black & Blue, Some Girls, Tattoo You, Voodoo Lounge & Stripped. All the rest is mostly just medium or crap stuff...This is what I think.

Those records I named above doesn't making a good average to name Stones the best band ever. And, in this case, lots of bands are better than our guys.

In my list I'd include Echo & The Bunnymen, Pulp, Smiths, Clash, Police, Radiohead, Oasis, Blur
and, in the other side outta ocean,
Pixies, Meap Puppets, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ramones & Strokes. Much likely i forgot several others.

Having said that, on the other hand I have to admit that Stones are magical & wild like no one else. But that's because those Jimmy Miller productions, because a bunch of wild concerts, because Altamont, because they have Jagger & Richards, because many times they're more image than sound, because they're are on the road since I was born, because the lots of lies & stories about them...

But, then again, I wonder if we say Stones are the best because they really are or just because they have a good place in our memories...Well, what do you think about it?

Soldatti Jimmy's work was fine but the decadence of the production was big in Goats Head Soup. Mick & Keith were the producers for IORR but the production and the sound was the worst ever and I can't believe how B&B sounds so fresh and good if they did it in less than 1 year of difference.
