Factory Girl Any AIC fans here? They had some great music in the 1990s.

Trey Krimsin I'm not a huge fan, but I've been a fan of AIC ever since I first saw the video for "We Die Young" on the old Headbanger's Ball. Dirt is usually the album of the band's that gets a lot of play.

Factory Girl Jar of Flies is great. My favorite is "Tripod" cd.

Anyone here familiar with Mad Season (Layne on vocals)?
10-24-03 02:47 PM
KeithRichards210 I have "Dirt" and a greatest-hits comp. Tasty stuff. "No Excuses" is my personal favorite.

Trey Krimsin "Above" is an album I finally bought this year after wanting it for the longest time. I really liked it. It's a really dark record, but it's more melodic than most of AIC's music.

Factory Girl I really like "Above". It is very dark, but also very introspective.

I thought AIC had very nice harmonies also, kind of like Bee Gees on smack.

If you like mellow AIC, check out AIC unplugged dvd and/or cd. Great stuff!!

mac_daddy I thought they were getting stronger musically all the time...

Mike Inez was a quality pickup @ bass guitar...

The Mad Season album is fantastic, as is Jar of Flies/Sap. I like their self-titled album (also their last) the best...

been listening to these recently, FG - are you in on the Scotland Tree? I would love to trade these for those (if you are interested)...

PS - I am going to try to get to Jerry C's show @ Molly M's tonight, but I don't know if I can get there in time to get in (prior commitment). Dan, you aren't going tonight, are you? One of us should be there to run tape...

Factory Girl You mean Jerry Cantrell's show? I'm glad he's still touring and playing. He needs to get himself a singer, though.
10-25-03 09:40 AM
mac_daddy yup - the bar holds maybe 50 people. I was drinking in there last night, and was working them for a ticket, but they were not doing advance sales. The bartender told me he expects the place to sell out in 2 minutes, and told me to get there around 8, but we (wife and I) have a family commitment, so we won't get there 'til close to 10. Now after last night's (drinking) performance, I stand a good chance of being let in by the bartender and/or the doorman, but that is always a crapshoot. We will see - if there is a line around the block and no parking, we might just drive on by (unfortunately)...

Factory Girl I'm not in Scotland tree. Missed deadline.
10-25-03 09:51 AM
Factory Girl I saw Jerry Cantrell last year. He does lots of AIC stuff, but he slows down the tempo. Enjoy if you go, and check your PM.
10-25-03 12:27 PM
UGot2Rollme I think their acoustic live cd is a classic.
you can hear the pain in Layne's vocals / maybe a little too much from the heart.
10-25-03 08:05 PM
Gimme Shelter I thought Alice In Chains were great. Never got to see them live but have seen Jerry Cantrell twice.

Some Guy This is Some Guy's Old Lady:
I LOVE AIC. The album "Dirt" hypnotized me for ages. To this day, I can't not get chills from listening to "It's gonna rain, when I die". That song alone describes the feeling of this awesome and profound album. Layne and Jerry's vocals are so melodic. It was such a loss when Layne died, but it was also expected. Thank goodness for Jerry's solo albums. He was in essence AIC and continues the tradition of AIC's dark sound. They RULED!!

Factory Girl I thought Layne had an awesome vice (I mean voice), that really made AIC very special. His voice could be very powerful and menacing, but also very mournful and melodic.

I think Jerry is a very talented songwriter/musician, but his voice is very ordinary. I do think that he and Layne did some great harmonies.

I saw AIC open for Iggy Pop.

RIP Layne.
