I got my copy in the mail from Amazon on Tuesday. This double CD is the only official New Barbarians release, the oft-bootlegged show from Landover MD 5-5-79. The sound is good, until the closing JJF which is from a rather raw audience source...maybe the soundboard tape ran out? Anyway, the set is very energetic and soulful and rockin;. Be warned though, neither our Stones guitarists is much of a singer and much of it simply makes you wince! They sound pretty toasty! The rhthym section of Clarke and Modeliste can't be beat even if they are held back a bit by the guitarists. Bobby and Mac are also on hand for some nice flourishes. This is well worth it for the hardcore Stones fan! |

yeah "Breathe" really reaches a hell of a crescendo
not as smooth as "Slide On This Live" but more energetic
worth it for the "Sure The One You Need" alone! |

Just got it yesterday from Amazon, and I listened to the first disc. What an amazing bunch of raw, raunchy, great rock 'n' roll tracks! I may be the only virgin ear here when it comes to the New Barbarians. For some strange reason I never got to listen to any bootleg in its entirety, believe it or not. Some tracks here and there, alright, but a whole live gig..! It was an apocalypse.
I LOVE the messed up vocals, love the beautiful way the guitars weave and Woody's tracks, man! Those people rocked out or what!
Liked the artwork too. Just wondering why there's not one single picture of Keith in it!
And now I'm greedy and I want more official releases |

I bet you they recorded all the shows--surely there must be one or two more they could put out there---I'd realy love that Benefit for the Blind in '79 for instance... |

There certainly are. The production is done well although the Barbarian boots are sounding a little more 'live' if you know what I mean. Best song: Am I grooving you. Stanley Clarke in top shape. |

certainly not the vocals!!! I tend to doubt over-dubbing given the time gap between performance and mixing/release |
