For the 5+ years I've been a member at E-Bay, I've had nothing but great transacations with people. But this one really gets my fucking goat.
Get this:
I buy an item on E-Bay, and I send the payment via PayPal IMMEDIATELY after the auction has ended.
The item arrives within a good amount of time, and a note is included with the item. It asks that I "take the time to post feedback." The person also states that he/she will usually post feedback on the same day. So I go ahead and leave the feedback IMMEDIATELY after I receive the item.
Well, a week goes by, and I don't have feedback left for me. So, I go ahead and send a message, saying how great the item is. I also remind the person to leave feedback when possible.
Another week rolls by: no feedback left! So I go ahead and leave another reminder, but I'm very cordial about it.
Guess what? Another week is complete, and I still do not receive feedback. How many weeks is that now? I leave another reminder. You never know how many people this person is dealing with, so I figure leaving a THIRD message will just give them a glimmer.
So, when I logged into my account today, I get a message from the person. Great, I wonder what he/she is gonna say. Maybe he/she was on vacation for three-four weeks? I don't know, but when I open up the message, it reads like this:
"Stop it."
That's it? You know what the hilarious thing about this is? He/she didn't leave feedback! How insulting is this? How hypocritical is this? This person includes a note with the item asking me to "take the time to post feedback" and this is the thanks I get for sending prompt payment and feedback?
Has anybody else had problems with people on E-Bay? |

I have had the same trouble. But, if you want to get really mad try selling something through Craigslist. The losers over there email, call set up a time to pick up the item and never show. Happened to me 3 times is one week, 2 times for the same item. I will NEVER go on that site to sell again. Lonely losers who waste your time. |

Does eBay say anything about a feedback situation like that? It has been a long
time since I bought something from them. Maybe they can be of some help,
that is not right to not leave feedback. |

It's pretty simple Boomy...as the buyer, don't leave feedback until you get feedback...It's a good strategy for several reasons

What's the big fuckin' deal about feedback anyway? I am seriously asking, because I am a seller, and it is something as a mystery to me as to why some people get all upons about me leaving them feedback right away.
As a seller I am used to only getting feedback for about 50% of my transactions anyway, and honestly, the only thing I care about at this point is getting paid.
Are you trying to boost your numbers for some reason, or does the lack of "closure" on the transaction just nag at you until you go crazy and write your seller?
I do 50-60 ebay transactions a week, and I leave feedback for my buyers every two or three weeks, because it's just easier and most efficient to leave them in a big fat lump.
Now, sometimes someone will write me and they will REALLY want their feedback, so I don't withhold, I go and leave a glob of feedback when asked. So why your seller is being a feedback pig, I don't know. That sounds fucked up.
But, please, lord god, _boomy_, since you bring it up, tell me - why do you even care whether you get the feedback or not? I am hoping this will give me insight into my customer base, which can be a gigantic mystery to me, not the least of reasons being because half the time I don't speaka dere langwidge.

It's a big deal if you ever want to sell something...if not, you should care less...I would imagine that if people are bugging you about feedback, it's because they want to sell eventually...and as you know, people are hesitant to buy from someone who doesn't have a lot of feedback...so starting at zero feedback and trying to sell costs you money...it definately does |

Yeah, I get that, but Boomy's not a noob, he's been on there for five years.
Anyway, the seller thing is entirely legit, for sho. But I have dealt with people, people solidly up in the 500s and shit, who are just feedback FIENDS. And I'm not sayin' Boomy is one of those, but they BAFFLE me, and I am looking for insight.
And Feej, half the time the seller is waitin' for the buyer to leave feedback, so if the buyer is waitin' for the seller, then you got this crazy waltz of nonciprocaton.
I definitely wait a couple weeks to leave feedback to cover my ass, to make sure that buyers are satisfied with their items, because I've dealt with buyers who, if you leave 'em feedback before they do, will try to get a partial refund on a not fucked-up item by claiming it's fucked up or damaged, and if you kick at 'em they'll hold the possibility of a neg over your head.
Feedback. The BDSM of internet transactioning.

I know that's true...I generally leave feedback as soon as I get paid...I have sold items, however, where I've told the buyer that they need to confirm they're cool with the item because what I was selling was condition sensitive...what I don't like is selling something and having someone go ape shit, leave dicked up feedback on me, and then still wanting their money back...that happaned to me once..."no can do" was my response...one, because I described the very problem with the item and two, because you left the crappy feedback...I can care less if sellers leave me feedback...I've got enough now I don't need it |

"Condition sensitive". You got dat right.
I have a special place in my feedback life for shit I sent out that was right on the beam of what I said it was but you never know how the record buyer on the other end is going to interpret your abbreviations and descripulations. Thems the ones I really wait on.
And you got that WAY right on the negative feedback = no goddamn refund. You write me if you're unhappy with your shit, and you will get a partial refund, a full refund minus shipping, or a whole hog money back you keep the record, depending on the cost of the item, etc. But you leave me a neg or noot before you've tried to resolve with me and you are dead to me. Period.
Ebay pulls enough shit to keep the buyer and seller alienated from each other without people buying into their crap.
I feel this forum is a positive step forward in the seller/buyer dialogue. Ebay workers of the world unite!
