Anybody Seen my 11 copies?
12 September 2005 - 16:29:33
Music Week
Looking to register their 11th number one album, and extend their span of chart-toppers to more than 40 years, the Rolling Stones’ A Bigger Bang held a small but significant lead over James Blunt’s Back To Bedlam on the midweek sales flashes but Blunt eventually prevailed, with his album winning the race for chart honors by a mere 11 sales. The Stones’ album sold 43,466 copies, and Back To Bedlam 43,477. The Stones actually sold 825 copies more in Great Britain but Blunt trounce them 1,381 sales to 545 in Northern Ireland.
No Direction Home - The Bootleg Series Vol. 7 is the title of the ‘new’ Bob Dylan album, which ties in with Martin Scorcese’s documentary of the same name. Debuting at number 21 on sales of 11,859. it’s a double disc set, featuring 26 previously unreleased recordings, from the late fifties thru’ the mid-sixties. It is Dylan’s 47th Top 75 album, and the highest charting of the ‘bootleg’ series, from which it is actually the fifth release, as Volumes 1-3 were bundled together in 1991, and provided the series’ previous highest chart placing, at number 32.
Incredible, ABB lost the #1 due Northern Ireland sales. What the hell is this? |

no..the BBC chart is a UK chart. There isnt a "GB" chart. The Irish chart you're talking about refers to the Republic of Ireland (it was on sale there 3 days before it came out in the UK...I think it was #17 there) |

This is the most humiliating loss yet....I wanted this #1 so bad, but as usual, we are let down and lose to a guy name d James Blunt. The legacy continues to dwindle. |

Hmmm, I´m not sure everybody understands the system here. The data posted refers to 15.44% of all sales, as it is a dynamic index, aggregated every 5 mins, as new sales figures come in. Also, based on how some albums are after 15%, I think this is seriously subject to change. Like election time: some districts get data in quick (small and urban), others are smaller (big and/or province). Yes, at this point no. 3 seems more likely, with about 150-160k in sales, but at 15% of the data in, u´d here analysts talk more about how this is potentially misleading, rather than start declaring winners and losers. So everybody, keep those fingers crossed, if this kind of thing is important to u. I know its silly but it is important to me. |

LMAO...this could be what this country really needs to bring everyone together..I just hope there wasnt a mass boycott in South Armagh over Mick's knighthood..LOL
Too late anyway. I doubt theres much chance of it going up the charts next week. |

The British tried very hard...sadly, the U2 fans bought James Blunt to prevent us from achieving history. |

Low sales so far, Forty Licks was close to 120,000 on 2002 with the 40% of reports and ended with 310,000.
I don't know if ABB will reach 135-150k, it seems that 100-110k is the top. |

Did I not say that last week Soldatti? And you know what, they have tried hard as hell to promote it!!! Can't blame it on underexposure....I guess there truly is no market for classic rock....sad............ |

Just see the embarrassing positions for Dylan's and Clapton's set.
In UK it sounds depressing when you see that the Stones missed the #1 spot by 11 copies on the week ending Sep. 11th and they're last #1 album was 11 years ago. |
