Anyone ever fool around with the wave editor and do their own remastering?
I have been toying with this Yamaha wave editor I have and really like the results I have gotten. I can pull the guitars to the front of the track at my taste. This has a really great effect on acoustic Stones and works like a charm on some of the studio boots out there.
Put a Sci Fi Flanger on You Got the Silver and it rocks!
Any other methods? |

Yeah, I've done some amateur "remastering" of my vinyl albums. I have a Decca copy of TSMR that cleaned up really well. Now I'm conflicted, because the new ABKCO SACD version is out, and I really am curious how it compares, but my own version sounds so good, and I worked so hard on it (and it's got bonus tracks!), that it seems a shame to replace it.
All I've been able to do, really, is clean up the vinyl sound somewhat. I'm not able to actually "pump up" any particular instrument. I often fantasize about coming into possession of an Aftermath master tape, so I can remix "Going Home" and push the harmonica part up front.
I think it would be cool if future CD's were available as multi-tracks, so we could all make custom remixes! Wouldn't that be cool? |

If you obtain one of the more sophisticated wave editors, you can full around with the equalizer and attack tools and give the tracks a remarkably diffferent sound (or simply make subtle changes).
