Ten Thousand Motels WOOD BLASTS BORING BANDMATES

ROLLING STONES hellraiser RONNIE WOOD has launched a scathing attack on his aging bandmates, branding the group too boring. The guitarist, 59, who recently spent time in rehabilitation during his ongoing battle against alcoholism, is disgusted SIR MICK JAGGER, CHARLIE WATTS and KEITH RICHARDS prefer bed to partying. He storms, "They can't f**king take it. They always have to go home to rest. Instead they leave all the f**king partying up to me." Speaking at a London exhibition of his artwork yesterday (24AUG06), at which his bandmates were conspicuously absent, Wood added, "They're all probably in bed." A party thrown by the rocker on Sunday (20AUG06) night to celebrate the band's first UK date in three years was so wild his neighbours called the police.

FotiniD The bit about the party is the frustrated alcoholic trying to sober up speaking.

But the bit about his exhibition... The man is right! And obviously feeling bad about it. You'd think they could at least show up at that. I mean, at least Charlie, he's got more of a brain and heart than the Glimmers when it comes to stuff like friends.

Either way, I think it should all be taken with a pinch of salt... We're hearing various stuff left and right and most of them are rubbish.

The Wick I sensed some tension there since that European press conference done in Texas or wherever it was. He kept talking about going for a break and seemed anxious to leave.

Altamont To quote Jagger during some live intro: "On cigarette, Ronnie Wood".

Though the Ronnie quotes in the topic sound phoney. How many breaks have they given the guy? too many, obviously.

About as many as they've given Keith over the years I suppose.

It's a rock 'n' roll band and unfortunately stuff like addictions sort of come with the deal. And they're hard to beat and they include relapses. Often many.

THat's the thing. Keith IS "They", along with Mick. Ronnie isn't. If the glimmer twins were as ruthless as they were in the in Brian era, Ronnie would be history.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ronnie, I just wish he would put as much effort into guitar playing as he does into goofing around.

Yeah, that may be true. On the other hand, he's been more years in this band than Brian or Taylor and yet he still doesn't get half the recognition he should. Well. It's the Stones after all.

When you're an alcoholic it's kind of hard to keep anything in your life together, from a family to friends or to playing guitar. I wish he could get through with it once and for all as well, but when you're in this lifestyle for all your adult life, it's not an easy thing to beat.

Yeah alright, but he's a spoiled alcoholic. He has no need to conquer his addiction because he will be taken care of regardless, right? The threats of non compliance don't really apply to him like they do to the average person. He will never be homeless, or broke. So he can indulge in anything he wants with minimal consequences, obviously. He needs to pull his head out of his ass.

Absolute rubbish! I don't think having a smoking related heart attack of getting a dodgy liver through drinking is "minimal consequences". All these things could happen to Ronnie and all the money in the world won't save him.

Saint Sway Lisa Fisher is a better bet on guitar these days than Ronnie.

jb RW is a disgrace and unfortunately has ruined the band this past 20 yrs....He should have been fired after 81 and replaced by anyone who could even marginally paly lead guitar.
