Topic: 2006 Saturdays? Return to archive
August 25th, 2005 10:47 AM
gimmekeef Looks like no Saturday dates for the re-start in 2006?...Does this mean more dates to come or with basketball and hockey back the arenas are booked?...If there is a PPV would they consider St Louis the Friday Jan show and show it next day on Saturday night edited? (my guess)

Steel Wheels They need to do more Friday night, Saturday night shows. Between that and the setlist controversy, people are gonna be bitchin' more and more.

nope....it means the entire band have converted to Judaism.
Shows the hold that Cohl has on them. He forbade them to perform on the sabbath

hardly. Its common knowledge by now they dont do back to back nights anymore. Medical advice, and anyway, pretty unwise in winter for Mick to risk losing his voice as has happened at that time of year on previous tours

Cancellations are more likely than anything to get people 'bitchin'

Trial over cancelled Rod Stewart concert begins

Rod Stewart leaves the federal courthouse in Las Vegas, Tuesday.

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Rod Stewart appeared in federal court Tuesday, saying he was there to "defend my honour" in a breach of contract lawsuit filed by a Las Vegas resort.

The Rio hotel-casino, which is owned by gambling giant Harrah's Entertainment, filed a lawsuit after the British rocker cancelled a 2000 concert while recuperating from thyroid surgery.

The company is seeking the return of $2 million US paid to Stewart for the show, plus interest and lawyers' fees.

"We don't hold his illness against him," Rio lawyer Stephen Morris said during opening statements. "We only wish to hold him to his contract, which says if he is ill or incapacitated and can't perform, he will return the $2 million."

Stewart's lawyer told reporters the singer has been willing to reschedule and has offered to perform two shows for the price of one.

"He is able and willing to do these concerts for them," said lawyer Louis (Skip) Miller, adding the 60-year-old singer has performed over 200 concerts since the May 2000 surgery that removed two tumours from his thyroid. One was malignant, Miller said.

"It took him about 10 to 12 months to get his voice back," Miller said.

Morris said they had been willing to discuss another Stewart show, but wanted the singer first to return the $2 million. When Stewart declined, the company moved forward with the lawsuit.

The Rio Suites Hotel in Vegas is right across the street from THE PALMS ( EXACTLY two blocks off The Strip ) . I love ' The Rio ' ( incredibly large suites with three separate sinks in the bathroom and the " Voodoo Lounge " ( located on the 51st floor of the hotel with a gorgeous view of the strip ) is an excellent bar with a huge dance floor and fancy , funky drinks .

Plus , you can go ahead and take the shuttle to Harrahs for free -- thus eliminating costly cab fare back and forth from The Strip . Word !

.....to your Great Great Grand Pappys

Joey !
