We need a poll to help Mick out with his wardrobe for the new tour. We all know that Mick's trousers have been the object of much speculation and -- how shall we say -- uh, rrrr, um, much adulation in some cases. (That last sentence should be read in the style of William F. Buckley, Jr.) But to stick to the matter at hand, should Mick:
A. Wear his trousers unmercifully tight a la '68 - '72.
B. Wear his trousers moderately tight a la '75 - '89.
C. Wear his trousers loose a la '94 - '03.
Critics everywhere aggree that there is an inverse relationship between the amount of clothing that Brittany Spears wears and the amount of CDs she sells. To wit: as the one amount drops the other amount rises. This could be the source of the Stone's sagging record sells in recent decades. As Mick's pants got looser the records sells got slower. So I say, "Mick do what you gotta do. There's no reason why James Brown should be the only hardest workin' man in show biz." (To get that joke you have to know of James Brown vis-a-vis his showmanship.)

I vote for form-fitted pants with no underwear underneath!
We don't want his pants to be too tight, because then he can't move.
I think that the pants he wore during the Forty Licks Tour were perfect!
I wouldn't mind seeing him dance in those tight, black pants again!

I never thought about Micks pants before. I do hate those long jackets he wears. I thought he looked good in his black pants and designer tee's last time around. |

How amazing is it that a 62 year old man can still create discussion concerning how tight his pants should be while performing?
Mick, you are simply amazing.
I must tip my hat to you - or anything else you wished tipped as well! |

He should either show off his sublime, much adored ass, or something fr/ the 69-70 shows, w/ the tight button pants. Anything but those football pants of the early 80's. Tight, but I never like that look. BCC |

I would like to know if anyone knows what Mick has on top of
his in the header this time? Is that a feather duster? He has on
a black shiny(?) leather jacket(?) with a feather duster on his
head or am I seeing things? That is a very unusual picture if
I may say so myself. |

no, thats his real hair.... |

Oh shit, Gazza, I have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard.....
That is quite a lovely hat, no? The costumes from this tour have Bianca's influence all over them...
Now, this L'wren, mind you, seems to have her pulse on the younger/rock n roll generation, and his clothing has been much more "hip" I dont care that he is 62,--the man can pull off the raggedy tshirts. I hope he sticks to the black "dance" pants/belt and cool cut up T's again, this tour. But hey, remember that long jacket from Voodoo Lounge--during Sympathy?? I thought that was pure Mick........he looked so cool with the top hat, sunglasses and that coat. |

It WAS cool. That outfit was specifically for the Voodoo Lounge tour - he was dressed as Baron Samedi.

This post got taken more seriously than I expected. I posted it partly in jest and figured I'd get trashed for doing it, or at least get called a fag. So to seriously make an answer to my own post: I think the poster that pointed out that a guy Jagger's age still sparking serious discusion on how tight his clothes are is amazing. But my opinion would be: no more leather trench coats. that green trench coat in 89 was awlful in my opinion as was Keith's for the Satisfaction opener on the Bridges tour, if I remember it right. I was completely disingaged from that tour and continue to be. although Mick's get up with the coat, glasses, and all for voodoo was cool. and please no more silk shirts, and Keith please keep your shirt on and buttoned at all times. Was it the Voodoo tour where Keith wore the sleeves he had cut off a sweat shirt? That was embarrassing for any fan. the guy used to dress so cool. I really dont like the cut up baby T's or whatever the hell they are that Mick has taken a fancy to since he stopped going shirtless. I know its politically incorrect but they look way to faggy for my taste. But the Stones always have been part fag show as was pointed out in that STP book by the Greenfield guy, the book about the '72 tour.
The Stones should take some fashion sense (or lack thereof) from AC/DC. Brian johnson and the lads look spectacularly immune to fashion trends on the sars dvd. it was great. when ac/dc is on stage its a mans world baby. but seriously, we all unfortunately know what this tour will look and sound like - like the last five tours - or has been more than that by now? we'll get the same designer trench coats, silk shirts, cut up Ts, black pants, Chuck level on the keyboard, and Lisa Fisher shrieking her way through gimme shelter one more time. it was cool the first time she did it, the second time was boring the third was getting annoying the fourth time it sounded like fingernails screeching on a black board.
if i had my way there'd be no horns on stage except bobby keys, no back up singers other than keith and ronnie, no keyboards other than a no name piano player who may be only half the musican that chucky is but who has the right attitude, no bass player except bill perky wyman ... well we know that aint gunna happen.
if only the stones had walked out on stage at live 8 with wyman unannouced on bass. it would have upstaged the floyd reunion and quarateed a sell out tour and possibly even gotten them a brief top ten hit in the manner of Mixed Emotions. |
