balancer Leaving London today to see the boys at Stade de France - anyone know of some good bars/clubs to go to ?

caro It depends on what you like : there's rue Oberkampf (subway-station Ménilmontant or Parmentier) where all the students go : plenty of bars, plenty of people, and not too expensive. The more "fashionable" district is Le marais (subway Saint Paul), which is the gay district : plenty of people too, many beautiful bars and places, but it's more of a techno/electro-atmosphere (and since there are lots of tourists, it's quite expensive). If you don't mind going a little further, you can try on the river near the Bibliotheque Francois Mitterrand : there are some barges that were turned into concert-bars. It's a strange district, because there's almost nothing else there : plenty of buildings are under construction. Check out if there's a concert (in the Batofar or the Guinguette Pirate), otherwise, it might not be worth going so far (to go there, take subway-line 14 to bibiotheque, then cross the bridge over the train-lines and it's like 2 minutes straight ahead). And if you don't want to pay 3 euro each time you drink something, buy a bottle of coke in a supermarket and go on the banks of the Seine on Quai Saint Bernard (subway Jussieu) to watch people dancing tango (there are often some djembe players too, but they don't play very well)
