Topic: Led Zeppelin deny reunion rumors Return to archive
29th June 2007 06:29 PM
mrhipfl For several days, a skepticism-inducing rumor has been making its way around the Internet, claiming that Led Zeppelin will reunite for a show memorializing late Atlantic Records co-founder Ahmet Ertegun, then head out on a tour.

Robert Plant himself has now reportedly denied these claims, according to RollingStone.com, and even made a joke about the purported reunion: "If there was one, then there wouldn’t be enough doctors to support it!"

If the reunion happened, it would mark the third time that the '70s legends have played since disbanding. The band has only performed a handful of concerts, since their split in 1980 following the death of drummer John Bonham.

Ahmet Ertegun died in December after seven weeks in a coma following a fall at a Rolling Stones concert. The likes of Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks, and Crosby, Stills & Nash all played his New York memorial in April of this year.

Your Cousin Lou I wouldn't put too much cred in this as a flat denial. Plant has gone back on himself several times in regards to rumors, Like the Page-Plant collaboration. He likes polaying off the obvious desire by many fans for this to happen. I would wait to see what Page and/or Jones have to say about everything. I still doubt there will be a reunion tour, but you never know.

IanBillen Led Zeppelin:.... A great band, at one time. However, they are overated.

Yep. That is right. I am stating that. They are overated.

They were a great band. Powerful, great song writing, somewhat innovative.

But Gods....no. In the same calibar as The Stones or Beatles....no. Are they immortal as far as music goes....no.

That is just it. They were a great band for a while. But they were never even close to being the greats the Stones, Beatles, or over-all were not even as good as The Who.

Personally I repect them and they had their place. I like some songs of theirs. Others I can do with-out. They were never really my cup of tea. I can see why some really liked them, but they were never really 100% my bag, although I couldn't "knock" them.

But these great "Rock Gods" some try to make them out to be....again, over rated. They were a great band for a while, I repect what they did and put out and that is about it.
