Topic: Why Are They Not Playing These Songs? (Good Point!) Return to archive
06-24-03 05:14 PM
Honky Tonk Man Okay, so this tour is supporting 40 Licks, Stadium shows are supposed to be greateset hits shows, so why are the following songs not getting played?....

Get Off Of My Cload
19th Nervous Breakdown
The Last Time
HYSYMBSIT Shadwow

The list goes on!!

We all expect to hear songs like Gimmie Shelter or Sympathy at the stadium shows, but they were not hits.

Lets face it, the songs listed above are only likely to be played in theatre shows, if they are played at all.

I think the Stones have got it wrong, in this respect anyway. They have being doing it this way for a while, but i just thought this being a tour supporting a hits cd, they might actually play some more of their top ten hits!

It was great the boys digging out Heart Of Stone and EBNST Love for the theatre shows, but MOST fans over 50 would know these! You get fans at that age at Arena don't you?

I mean, evan Little Red Rooster was a number one in the UK!

Honky Tonk Man Yeah Rik, im sure you were joking, but that would be FANTASTIC!

What i bought up is bugging me today. Tomorrow it will be something else! Getting beaten at pool by your 9 year old brother doesn't help either!

But i am just hoping that someone can shed some light on the matter. I don't think any one will have the anwers, byt it makes for a good discussion and i have a valid point

SOMETHING HAPPEND TO ME, SOMETHING RATHER GROOVY, Yeah i wish!

dealer squealing No i have seen the Toronto setlist it is as follows:

1. You Got Me Rocking
2. Like A Rolling Stone
3. You Got Me Rocking (Keith)
4. Miss You
5. You Got Me Rocking (B Stage)
6. Its Only R and R (B Stage)
7. You Got Me Rocking
8. Something Happened To Me Yeasterday
9. You Got Me Rocking (encore)

A bit short but 90% of the people wants to hear those songs and also doesnt want a longer set.

Gazza im not sure about the setlist for Toronto, but I'd guess the length of the show wont be much more than what youve suggested!

TheSavageYoungXyzzy dealersquealing, that's the funniest thing I've heard all night. Granted, late night TV has not yet started.

We shall see if you hold out against these mediocre purveyors of pasquinades!

(Brain Drain: During summer break in high-school age adolescents, it is the period in which worthless knowledge is expelled in order to make way for practical life lessons)

I was worried about this post because I thought "Sway" was going to make the list, and then we'd have to trot out the ol' excuse - Mick and Mick wrote it, Keith hates it, Ronnie didn't play on it, Keith wouldn't let Mick play an actual riff to save his grandmother.

The big one you put down is "19th Nervous Breakdown", and I think that's Keith to blame as well, since he sure as hell can't (or doesn't want to) hit those harmonies anymore, and it doesn't sound the same with Bernard's voice, which is closer to a smoothed-out Rod Stewart than Keith or Ronnie. And apart from the divebombing at the end, what makes that tune is the fact that it's a harmony song. The guitar riff is awesome and integral, sure, but Ronnie himself said it was his favorite Stones song and with him sober it wouldn't be a problem anymore. That leaves only Keith holdin' up the Love Train.

As for you, Moon, we could have *that number* if you could ever get Keith to own up to the fact that he sang the bridge!

Hey, waitaminute...

Why did they drop "Love Train"?

Bring back "Love Train"!

The BBLT coalition of the willing has been founded. We're bringing back "Love Train".
