Honky Tonk Man I'm a little drunkard today, but I have just about managed to stick Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited album on. What does everyone think of it?

My all time favourite Dlyan track is Don't Think Twice, Its Alright, but I'm tierd to go upstairs and bring it down.

Well All Right Miss Lonely...

time is on my side Great, Great album. Definitely one of Dylan's greatest albums- maybe one of the best albums of all time. Love the poetry and the mystical images of historical figures that are littered throughout the album. Great wordplay!!! I also love Dylan's singing. His voice is rich, filled with the wisdom of Solomon, and has the world weary effect of one who has seen and done it all. Most importantly, this album seems to be have been written about the life experiences we all encounter from time to time.

Yes it is - and that's saying something!

As good as it sounds NOW, in 1965 it was a totally pivotal album - everyone in the recording industry who wanted to remain in the recording industry for long had to react to it in some way. Probably had the same effect on lyric writers that hearing Jimi Hendrix for the first time had on guitar players..."uh oh, the ante has definitely been UPPED." And although the whole "Dylan goes electric" controversy actually started with the album before this one(Bringin' It All Back Home), HWY 61 threw the gauntlet down once and for all.

There haven't been too many albums with more impact. And it's STILL unfolding for me - I still find things in it that I'm just getting NOW, 40 years after he wrote and recorded it.

A true masterpiece. If you don't know this album you don't really know rock & roll.

Sir Stonesalot Dylan's Desolation Row is to me like what the Stones' Midnight Rambler is to me, or The Clash's White Man In Hammersmith...essential for continued life functions.

kath agreed. desolation row is a classic....

stonedinaustralia brilliant wonderful
especially love "It Takes a lot to Laugh" and "Tom Thumbs Blues" - the latter having one of my favourite dylan verses

"Well i started out on burgandy but soon hit the harder stuff (...)
i'm going back to New York City I do believe I've had enough"

Honky Tonk Man After Highway 61, I played Blood On The Tracks. Now that’s a really great record and in my opinion, maybe Dylan's best. It has such a warm feel and glow to it and lyrically; he's at his finest. Mt favourite track is If You See Her, Say Hello. The melody is beautiful.

Actually, I think I'm entering another Dylan phase. It usually happens once or twice a year. I play his records non-stop and then allow them to gather dust.

Other records of his (I say records, because I've been spinning my dad's old Dylan vinyl too) I've been listening too include The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan and his debut. His first long player may be a little hit and miss, but I personally love the ropey and raw energy of just his lungs, harmonica and acoustic guitar. That album has a great sleeve too.
