I saw Rush in there. Wasn't 2112 inspired by Ayn Rand?

If that guy seriously thinks most of those songs are conservative, then he doesn't get "irony" !!! |
|
Sir Stonesalot |
OMG....do the people that write these things really believe what they write? Even worse than that, how many people who read that list will actually believe it!?!
Amazing. Astounding. Confounding. Ridiculous. Hilarious.
Thanks for posting that link. I'll never be able to hear "Rock The Casbah" again without chuckling.

"Sunday Papers" must really sent these people off..........Conservative Rock n Roll Is a Oximoron..............So is this post.............. |

The list omitted a few:
1. "Okie From Muskogee". An ode to white lightning being more virtous than the killer weed.
2. "Spirit in the Sky". Self-righteous rapture rock. "I've never been a sinner, never sinned, I've got a friend in Jesus".
3. "Ballad Of The Green Berets". About how fighting a war in Vietnan will keep America free, or something like that. Sound familiar?
4. "An Open Letter To My Teenage Son". Dad explains that if Junior burns his draft card, he'll be disowned. However, Mom will get over it because, after all, "she's a woman".
5. "I've Gotta Get A Message To You". Pro-death penalty to the max. Even the condemned Bee Gee in question admits "I did it to him, now it's my turn to die". |

Neocons can't be Stones fans.. it's impossible. |
|

"Open letter to my teenage son" is simply the best song ever to get stoned to.
I went to this site, and once again, you Yanks take the cake. Some people just have waaaaaaay too much time on their hands. I also love going to Ann Coulter's site. She's hilarious. Best U.S. female comedian around, with exception to maybe Joan Rivers.
I agree also. Neo-cons cannot by definition, be Stones fans. How could any right wing Christian nut-bag tolerate a song like Stray cat blues? |

Speak it !
Corgi IS King ! |

Yes. Yes, i am the king.
And, justify a child of God grooving to Bitch or Some Girls, then going (armed) to a abortion clinic the next day or standing with a placade outside a strip joint?
Or, how's about a soldier in Iraq with Gimme Shelter on his/her Ipod? |

Blank stare. Yeah, what kind of asshole yank would put that on his/her Ipod. Because being stuck in the desert for a six month to 1 year tour is so much fun. American forces have no right to like the Stones! It's nice that they have the technolgy to have Ipods now a days. During desert storm, we only had walkmans, that way we could pay more attention to killing civilians.

that has some truth in it. My Dad is conservative, a Vietnam Vet and he fucking hates the Stones. But my Dad isn't a nut bag he's more to the moderate side. But still, conservatives by nature really cannot like this band.
Moderates are 50/50 with the Stones. Liberals and Democrats alike are there at Fenway Park fucking shit up. HELL YEAH! |

Wait...are you saying that you AGREE that all those songs are "conservative" songs? For real like, or are you kidding?

This proves that music is prone to different interpretations, especially naive ones.

Living Colour's, Cult of Personality “I exploit you, still you love me / I tell you one and one makes three / I’m the cult of personality.”
Hmmmmm now where else could these lyrics be applied to. . .I wonder????

So what does that say about you. You obviously are reacting to something as well, what's that say about You.
Don't hurt yourself thinking, it's not good for neo-Cons to think, you can let the idiots in charge do that for You!!! |

And thankfully so! Who the hell would want to be a bland normal? |

Whilst not a neocon, I still consider myself a conservative. I have no problem blasting Stary Cat Blues. As for this article, I read it in my subscribed copy of National Review. You might not like to admit it but there are songs out there that take a conservative view of things. I did disagree with some choices such as SFTD though. |
