OASIS BEAT THE BEATLES IN BEST SONG POLL
Britpop band OASIS have topped a poll for the 100 best British songs with their huge 1995 hit WONDERWALL.
The rockers, whose latest single LYLA was toppled from number one in the UK charts by ringtone phenomenon CRAZY FROG yesterday (29MAY05), have beaten their own heroes THE BEATLES in the survey, conducted by British radio station VIRGIN.
The top five favourites are as follows:
1) OASIS - WONDERWALL
2) QUEEN - BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
3) LED ZEPPELIN - STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
4) THE BEATLES - LET IT BE
5) JOHN LENNON - IMAGINE.

The Top bands were the Beatles and Queen with 8 tracks in the Top 100 (Queen's Radio Ga-Ga at #50 ) and the Stones with 6 songs, but none in the Top 10.
