Saint Sway what a joke!

how many times did the Stones get passed over before the idiots that give out this award finally get to Duran Duran and realize that they had overlooked the Stones too????

I can just picture these morons sitting around a conference room desk and deliberating over who should get an English songwriting award...

"OK. So we're gonna honor Duran Duran this year. Super! Theyre the best. But lets see.... anyone else we should give a British songwriting award to?... hmmm.... well, we already honored Frankie Goes To Hollywood... and, uh, I think we gave one to George Michael... And, naturally we awarded one to Robbie Williams. Ok.... what about Def Lepard? Oh, we gave them one. Great! So... are there any other British artists that we may have over looked.... hmmmm....."

Queen won 8 I.N Awards, but it's the first for the Stones or any oh his members.

That says everything about the value of these Awards: none.

Hannalee There are three kinds of Ivors categories: statistical, nominated and 'Gift of the Academy'.

Statistical categories include Best Selling UK Single and PRS Most Performed Work and are determined by various sets of figures.

Nominated categories, such as Best Contemporary Song are invited from any interested party and are decided by a jury comprising eminent writers, and other respected individuals, such as producers and broadcasters.

The Gift of the Academy awards, under which Queen received their Outstanding Song Collection award are decided by the Ivors committee.

Also honoured at today's awards were Lou Reed, who received The Special International Award, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, The Ivors Special Award for Songwriting. Bob Geldof and Midge Ure's 'Do They Know It's Christmas' was Best Selling UK Single. The Album Award went to Snow Patrol for Final Straw. In all 15 awards were presented.

JaggerLips Great that they've won this award!

I never like awards for music or for acting because it's all subjective!!!! What one person thinks is the best thing since sliced bread another thinks is absolute rubbish.

Been a long time coming for the Stones to get recognition for just how much they've given to music over the last 40 years!

Think all the Queen stuff gets a bit much after a while.

Hannalee James Jagger collected the award on their behalf - well, Brian May says it was Mick's son and I can't see it being Gabriel or Lucas!
