Rolling Stones cancel Zagreb concert

ZAGREB (AFP) - The Rolling Stones have canceled a concert in Zagreb set for August because insurance companies refused to cover the event, organizers said.

The decision came shortly after the rock group cancelled their concert in the neighbouring Serbian capital of Belgrade due to security reasons after the March 12 assassination of prime minister Zoran Djindjic.

"Due to the high demands of the concert and the worsened security situation in the region and world," the band had sought comprehensive insurance coverage for the trip, Croatian organizer Kajda said in a statement.

However, no local or international insurance company was ready to issue the policy and "guarantee an extraordinarily high insurance amount," it added.

The concert in Zagreb, set for August 4 as part of the group's "40 Licks" tour, was to have been the third by the British megaband in Croatia. Earlier such concerts took place in 1976 and 1998.
