Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards today thanked Auckland's Ascot Hospital staff where he has been a patient since injuring his head in Fiji last month.
The 62-year-old, who was discharged this morning, said he would like to thank everyone at the hospital for the "truly wonderful" care he received.
"From the doctors to the beautiful ladies who make painful nights less painful and shorter. I'm pretty much at a loss for words to express my deep gratitude," he said.
"I hope I wasn't too much of a pain in the arse - after all it was my head they fixed. Many thanks, kiwis."
His United States-based spokeswoman, Fran Curtis, said Richards would be staying in Auckland as an outpatient and would be returning to the hospital for check-ups.
Richards injured his head when he fell out of a coconut tree while holidaying in Fiji at the end of the Stones' tour of New Zealand and Australia.
The band's European tour, due to start at the end of the month, has been scheduled to begin in June.

Good news.
A multi, multi millionairre guy drunkenly falls from a tree and his skull is fine.
A miner died, leaving a wife and children. 2 others are rescued after 2 weeks.
A little girl, hit by a stupid old cunt a few years ago, and suffering severe burns and injuries that required amputations and many, many rehab sessions, has been hit by a car again. Again, driven by a stupid old cunt.
Now, kindly donate to the miners fund, or for poor Sophie. Unlike Keith, these families dont have hundreds of millions of dollars.
And, who is Fran Fucking Curtis? What happened to Jane Rose?
